I love the Lock&Lock brand. I've been using them for quite a long time. My oldest pieces are more than 10 years old and are still going strong. I use them constantly. I know some folks hate leftovers, but I don't. If I bought it or made it in the first place, it was because I like eating it, and if I liked it today, I'll like it tomorrow too! The Lock&Locks keep everything I put into them fresh and ready to be rewarmed. I don't buy sets. Instead, I prefer to just buy the particular pieces that I need (preferably on sale--this one was 9 bucks). I can usually find a space-efficient way to store them by putting the smaller ones into the larger ones. I didn't have a Lock&Lock of this size, but I thought the size would be perfect for storing half a London broil or a couple of chicken pieces. The 54 ounce, 1.7 qt size (HPL824) is perfect. It has the familiar 4 flaps, one on each quadrant of the lid, that engage the equally familiar tabs on each quadrant of the body of the piece. The seal is tight, waterproof and secure. The dimensions in the Product Details are correct. Keep in mind that they refer to the lidded container and not just its body, which will be slightly smaller. The Lock&Locks are microwave reheatable, but I never do that. Depending on what I'm reheating, if it has tomatoes or oil, it can stain or mar the container. I transfer to the dish I'm going to serve in, and reheat that way. I do wash them in the dishwasher (top rack) and my oldest pieces are still perfectly functional. I think it would be wise to heed the warning from the manufacturer that appears in the Product Details, "ONLY LOCK & LOCK PRODUCTS "SOLD BY" AMAZON.COM ARE GUARANTEED GENUINE." If it doesn't say "Sold by Amazon.com" under the price, look over on the right side of the Product page and you can generally find one that is. It will cost a bit more, but you won't get a counterfeit knock-off. I am a retired engineer, and I think it may be that the simple, effective and direct way that the Lock&Locks solve the food storage problem appeals to my "tech-y" personality. The way that they preserve the freshness of whatever I put in them appeals to my palate, that's certain! ... show more

These worked great. I did not buy them for food storage but they held up well and provided an air tight seal to keep the contained product fresh. I appreciate the value but likely will never need to wash these so I can't speak to that

It is a decent container; however, I question the size accuracy. I don't believe that it could 88oz of either liquid or dry matter. I only got just about 70oz of liquid, and I couldn't fit in 77oz of powder into it either. I kept it just because it is well made and I sure I might find a use for it. Lock & lock containers are awesome! I have been using them for over 15 years now. They really do help food stay fresh longer. This size is very handy for cheeses and deli meats, as well as mushrooms, cherries, etc. We use lock & lock for fruits and vegetables we grow to hold them in the fridge for a day or so until we have enough to can, freeze or dehydrate. So much more economical in the long run than plastic bags and more economical friendly because you use them over and over. They stack neatly in the fridge or pantry so you can tell what you have and find it easily. Keeps cookies, crackers and snacks fresh. Thousands of uses, and you can get them in almost any size imaginable. We prefer the rectangular and square ones to the round ones because they stack more efficiently. Hand wash or put in the dishwasher as you wish and they clean up easily. Best not to microwave things like curries or tomato based dishes in them because these foods tend to discolor or stain almost any type of plastic, even durable lock & locks.
