Modern electronic gets smaller and smaller every year, while eyes get older and less keen. Optics are a must for any repair, inspection, or construction these days. I have used just about every thing at one time from lighted magnifiers to high dollar mechanical binocular microscopes, to the new inexpensive digital "microscopes". Most (except the the binocular microscope) have been on spring loaded swing arms and stability and placement is a challenge sometimes. This digital microscope is a game changer. The mount is so much better than the others. It is stable and easily positioned in both x, y, and z axis. The base uses two clamps for mounting the assembly and it works better with a thicker table edge. I am considering mounting it permanently with other hardware. The packaging designer should be commended as the box it comes in has everything secured against damage with no wasted space. The outer shipping box was beat up, but the inner OEM box was pristine and the contents undamaged. The view screen is large and makes looking up at it easier when you are using both hands. This is really important when doing soldering or rework. The display is bright and sharp. It reminds me of the detail I used to get from a $30K mechanical rework microscope I had in one lab. I have tried some of the smaller "digital" microscopes, but none have had the stability or viewing area of this one. I won't repeat all the options this guy has, but it has any you could want including recording and video export. Most of these I don't need on a frequent basis. This station is oriented to the serious hobbyist or light commercial use and the price reflects that. But, if you are serious about working on SMD and circuit boards in general, you have to have tools up to the task and this will help you get there. ... show more

The packaging is incredible. Parts are all wrapped and well secured with foam for shipping. Setup was really easy and directions are nice and detailed. The really nice part is that the arm swings out of the way and you can also adjust it to view whatever you are working on. I do a lot of audio and microphone wire soldering, and my eyes just can't see in that close to do such fine work. The camera focuses perfectly and the image on the screen is razor sharp. It's so nice to have a larger screen to see details. This would be great for any sort of small detail work, carving, soldering, circuit board inspection, automotive part inspection, even stitching and sewing work. Endless possibilities. Once my garage shop cabinets are installed, this will have its own spot on the workbench for the soldering station. Also, the gooseneck lights that are on this microscope are phenomenal. You can dial in the brightness and intensity very easily. The goosenecks allow you to position the lights wherever you need them. Clamping this to the benchtop is also a great feature. I am saving the box in case I need to ever transport it to a worksite on location. The value for the money is really good, There's a lot of design and precision that went into this and it is very well made. I have some more detail work coming up and will update some more pictures from those projects. Very nice....kudos. ... show more

This microscope is straightforward to use and makes it easy to get a clear, properly focused view. The magnification is excellent, and the picture quality provides the detail needed for working with small components. I especially appreciate the large 10.1-inch display, since it gives me a comfortable view without having to crowd around a smaller screen. The slide rail arm also makes positioning the camera and adjusting the working area convenient. Overall quality is impressive, and the controls do not add unnecessary complexity. I was truly surprised by the overall quality of this digital microscope. This features a mounting system that will slide on the X and Y axis, as well as the Z axis. You've seen the videos of pros doing PCB repair with powerful microscopes, and this one puts you right there alongside the pros. It comes with a 10.1 inch 4K UHD 3840×2160 monitor but also has HDMI and USB-C connections for using bigger displays. There is an illumination ring around the camera to light up the area you are viewing, as well as the 2 flexible arm LEDs that are attached. The advanced mounting system allows the microscope to fold out of the way when its not being used. Also included is a silicone soldering mat that measures almost 12" x 18". If you are a hobbyist building your dream projects, or a professional needing a solid dependable piece of equipment I believe this Digital Microscope will not disappoint. ... show more

This digital microscope is mounted on a stand that utilizes two linear slides to move the unit left, right, forward, and backward. The linear slides are of excellent quality, and the movement is smoother than expected. The overall construction is impressive and well-built. IMAGE QUALITY AND DISPLAY: The microscope provides high resolution and clear image detail. It can output video to an external monitor through an HDMI cable, which automatically turns off the built-in screen when connected. LIGHTING AND CONTROLS: The illumination is managed through an in-line push-button controller on the wiring. The dual side lights feature eight levels of brightness, and the built-in lens lights can be adjusted from a very low setting to full brightness using a variable dial knob. REMOTE AND CALIBRATION: The included remote control allows for easy operation from a distance, which is particularly useful when standing back to view the image on a large television screen.
