This is a light-hearted, fluffy shojo, but with some refreshing twists on the characters. Matsunaga is not your typical shojo male lead. He can be hot-headed and quick to anger, but he also isn't afraid to smile and react genuinely to situations. Plus, I love that he's got a unique (to shojo) hairstyle! The girl is simple and sweet, albeit sometimes weak, but she seems like a totally normal/relatable high school girl. I'll be honest, I clicked the 1-click ordering button by accident on this book while browsing (Whoops!) and I'm so glad I did! I'm OBSESSED with this series now. Volume 1 is a great introduction to all the fun characters, the art is good, and the story premise of the 10 yr age gap between the two love interests keeps you wondering exactly how this relationship will develop. Waiting for new volumes to be released is so hard! (>_<) ... show more

    • Zany and sweet. A weird combo that works!
I got this manga for the facial expressions. They are so delightful. The mangaka knows her stuff. The backgrounds are simple, as is the paneling, too, but the faces and gesturing are top notch. I found a favorite illustration on every page, and then I ended up loving the story, too. This fish-out-of-water high school romance has just enough tension to keep one's interest, and a little adult spice mixed in to set it apart from shoujo romances, but the story never gets etchi. However, a romance between a high schooler and a professional graphic designer makes me a bit nervous. I don't know which direction the mangaka will take this. In the meantime, most of the characters in this book are fleshed out nicely. They have quirky personalities that make for fun dynamics in the boarding house. Matsunaga is a bit intense. I imagine he'll mellow out over time, but he can be a bit annoying as a character. Great undercut, though. ... show more

This was a pleasant surprise for an impulse manga buy. I enjoy the character chemistry and pacing thus far and I can't wait to get my hands on #2! It has a Princess Jellyfish sort of feel to it without the neet situation. It's a good slice of life to cozy up to!
