I chose this produce for an introduction to kimekomi (decorations embossed with fabric) demonstration that I'll be leading next month. I wanted a range of fabrics and colors, several per participant, that would be easy to bag up and hand out. These 10"x10" squares will hopefully do the trick. The first thing I noticed about them was the texture. Most (not all) have a smooth and polyester-type texture that quilting cotton usually doesn't have. The second thing was a slight chemical smell. I'm assuming that the fabric has been treating with some stiffening agent to make the cut and division of squares easier and stop the edges from fraying. I will wash these thoroughly before handing them out--hopefully they will look as nice after being washed! You can certain buy quilter's cotton cut from the bolt and get a better value, but I don't currently have the time, the patience, or the ability to spend hours had the local Joann's to get 50 different colors of fabric in the middle of a pandemic. Plus, this forces me to think outside of my own preferences! Two stars off for the following reasons: - three of the prints were too sloppy and the colors too muddy (one so bad that my eyes hurt when I looked at it too long) - not enough variety of color--tons of navy-blue based prints, not a lot of yellow, purple, and green or even light blue - inconstancy with weight: some of the lightest colored prints had a different texture and seem to be a lighter weigh weave. If you wanted to pair them with some of the others in the same project, it would be difficult to get them to match. ... show more

All but 5 of my 50 fabrics were florals. There were 2 children’s prints. The fabric is a light cotton which worked well for my fabric baskets that were interfaced. Very convenient since I needed all 10x10 squares so I didn’t have to cut my own. Can not comment on shrinking since I did not prewash. Would love other assortments if available but for what I wanted these were great. ... show more
