  • This pump works great
Pattern Name: Pump Style: Manual Utility, 1500 GPH, 25 Ft. Cord
Very quiet and lite weight and pumps water out of my pool quickly

  • This pump is not good for fish ponds where small debris exists, but there is a simple fix.
Pattern Name: Pump Style: Manual Hydroponic, 1500 GPH, 10 Ft. Cord
I have had one of these pumps for over 20 years in my fish pond that worked great until it recently developed a conduction path to ground (probably due to water incursion) that tripped the GFI outlet. I ordered this replacement, installed it, and it didn't produce the necessary flow to operate the waterfall in the fish pond (the old Little Giant pump worked fine for 20 years in this fish pond). When I compared the new pump to my old one, I found the filter screen on the bottom of the pump was much more flexible than the one on my old pump. In operation the new pump pulls the filter screen against the opening of the pump intake so that a very small amount of debris at the ~ 1 inch diameter spot adjacent to the pump intake on the filter screen causes the water flow to diminish substantially. My initial solution was to put the filter screen from my old pump on the new pump, but they changed the spacing of the pins and holes that are used to attach the filter screen to the pump. My second solution worked well. First I put the filter screen on the pump and marked the square hole in the screen that is located directly above the center of the pump intake hole. I circled that hole with a silver magic marker. I then screwed two 10-32 stainless steel Philips head machine screws from the pump side of the filter screen into the two square holes that were 3 holes toward the back and front of the pump from the marked hole (see attached pic). The screws thread nicely into the square holes so there is no need for drilling. The head of the screws catches on the raised plastic reenforcement ridge on the pump side of the filter screen and creates the proper spacing between the filter screen and the pump so that the pump doesn't pull the filter screen against the pump intake hole. If you don't want the screws to stick out from the bottom of the pump filter screen they need to be about 0.150 inches (4mm) long. I found longer screws at Home Depot and cut them to the proper length. ... show more

  • Have had at least 4 of these over 3 decades Works great for pool covers
Pattern Name: Pump Style: Manual Hydroponic, 1500 GPH, 10 Ft. Cord
Gets the water down to a really low level. If allowed to run empty they will burn out

  • Cannot have any debris in water
Pattern Name: Pump Style: Manual Hydroponic, 1500 GPH, 10 Ft. Cord
I replaced a 2200 gph pump in my water feature with this Little Giant as I needed less flow. Everything fired up and ran great initially, but then the pump slowed down drastically. I reached my hand in and found little bits of leaves and debris clogging the intake. This did not happen with the last pump as it was able to process the small debris just fine. The old one also came with a wire mesh bag to screen out larger debris. I tried using it on this pump, but it doesn't help. I would not recommend this for outdoor use unless you have a filtration system to catch small debris before it gets to the intake. If the water is perfectly clean, it works well. ... show more

  • Sent me a pump that had been previously used. Thanks a lot...
Pattern Name: Pump Style: Manual Utility, 1500 GPH, 25 Ft. Cord
The pump had a water stain line on it from a previous user. It was not new. I am using it with a watchful eye, almost expecting something to be wrong with it. So far no problem. Grrr.
