Some of the reviews say they got plates that were greasy or that the plates smelt terrible. The ones I got are no different from what I would see in a gym. If I put them close to my nose, yes I can smell industrial rubber but that’s no different from the plates in a gym. If you want zero smell, go for steel plates but those will damage the floor. Looks just like the other ones, I bought at retail stores near me when you can buy them online cheaper. It did smell a little bit in the beginning.Just put it out for a couple days and the smell goes away.

You get what you pay for - and these are worth every penny. I bought the 35lb plates (pair) - yes, they have some oil to protect them and I am glad they do. Easy enough to wipe off and I have honestly not noticed a strong smell. Weights are excellent quality - highly recommend.
