The reel assembly is quite compact which is great for storage. I do prefer the open reel style, but for my needs of storage, I went with this one. Also, the length of cord (35ft) is perfect. Most enclosed reels are only 25ft, while open reels can be 50ft or more. A few issues though, but maybe not a deal breaker for most. The cord tends to snag the last 5 feet of cord. You have undo the cord and try again. This also puts strain on the hand crank when it happens. Winding the drum slowly and guiding the cord helps. Time will tell if it holds up. It does have a 3 year warranty. Adding some silicone spray to the winding drum helps quite a bit to reduce drag. Some folks thought the plastic was flimsy at the outlets. I didnt think so, maybe they improved it? There is a main power switch that lights up when all the outlets are on. They grab onto the plug male ends good and secure. Pros: Cord length isnt too short or too long for most needs. Small foot print for easy storage (a big plus). 4 switched outlets, Swivel and fold away hand crank. 3 year warranty, good quality cord. Cons: Winding drum has too much friction, but a silicon spray will help that. Last few feet of cord snags and locks the drum which puts excessive force on drum crank. although I thought the price could be better I purchased because of the wire gauge and length. Around here 25' is never enough. Wire is very flexible, winds up easy. Like the breaker and the on/off switch. We will see how how much dirt it accumulates with the open design. I think it will work for my needs. I like that it's compact but the last five feet is hard to reel in and of course no matter how much you use you always have to deal with that five feet. Either the cord should have been shorter or the reel larger or, ideally two sizes. It was bad enough I disassembled the reel and removed 8 feet. I wish I'd gone 10. I took it off the reel in to keep the molded plug but in retrospect I should have bought good quality male and female cord caps and put the male on the shortened cord and the female on the part I cut off. Connecting inside the reel was a PIA because it was soldered. ... show more
