I originally bought this as a pillow to sleep on with an older memory foam mattress, but didn't end up using it because it was too thick/firm to use with that bed, and I wasn't inclined to to cut open in the interior liner to remove any of the shredded memory foam and have to sew it back up. Definite design flaw they didn't put a zipper on the inner liner. But I kept it for the heck of it. Anyhow, fast forward to a month ago and after buying a new Molecule 1 mattress, which is considerably more firm than my old mattress, I found my other, softer pillows lacked the thickness and support to keep my neck aligned and prevent me from waking with horrible stiff necks and migraines. I realized I needed a thicker and firmer pillow than those I'd been using with my old mattress. Because I had this in a closet, I figured I'd try it. Turns out this pillow works great for my needs on the new bed, thick enough to keep good alignment when side sleeping, but compresses enough to still support as my body sinks ever so slightly into the firmer mattress, or when I roll over onto my back during the night. Overall the pillow remains somewhat cool throughout the night and I don't find myself sweaty or uncomfortable on it. I have bought this pillow twice in the last 3 years because I love it so much. I don’t like solid memory foam pillows( they are too firm for my liking) and i don’t like fiber filled pillows( they don’t offer enough support). I have tried every other kind of pillow out there and nothing compares to this pillow. Its the perfect blend of 2 types of pillows. It has the outer memory foam layer which provides support but it not too thick keeping the pillow soft. And the inner layer of shedded memory foam offers softness without letting the pillow be too soft and lacking support. Two small downfalls to me are I have notice there is slightly too much stuffing inside for my liking so with my second pillow I cut a small hole and removed some. Another is if it is hot when sleeping it seems to store the heat in pillow as well. But I keep my room pretty cold and the pillow stays cool for me. ... show more

After sleeping on this pillow for about a week now I am ready to review it. For me, my personal favorite pillow ever is the Malouf Z Shredded Gel infused foam pillow that I won locally a couple years ago and made the terrible mistake of washing it last month and totally ruined it. For me it was the perfect combo of support and softness. Unfortunately the cost to replace the Malouf is more than I am willing to pay for a pillow so I set out to find a less expensive alternate, so I bought this one but sadly it is not the replacement I was hoping for. However, that's not to say this is a bad pillow because it's not. As a side sleeper it is supportive and it retains its shape night after night, also there was no odor from night one. The removable/washable cover is a nice touch. While I like the support it offers, what is lacking for me is softness. Yes you do sink into the foam, it's not like it's a hard brick, but even with that sinking, I would not exactly call the feeling soft. If you need support, this pillow will deliver, (or if you are currently using 2 pillows stacked to get the support you want, you likely would get away with just using this one w/out the need to double up) but if you like a little of that snuggle softness to go with your support you may be disappointed in this pillow. I have no plans to stop using the pillow at this point, but I will probably treat myself to a new Malouf come Christmas time. ... show more

This pillow actually encourages me to keep myself still and fall asleep. I never knew a pillow could make such a difference. I have only had this pillow for a few days and had such glorious sleep. You must understand that I have sever insomnia. I hardly ever fall asleep at the proper time, and I usually blame it on my dh snoring. Or my son coming too close to me, or I am in so much pain, the list goes on and on. I went to a hotel last night and FORGOT this pillow which I planned to bring because I was enjoying my sleep. But Even though it was nice and quiet there and they had the exact same bed that I have at home, which is super comfortable, and even though I slept alone... I still couldn't sleep more than an hour before waking up. With this pillow I can sleep 8-10 hours straight if I want to. The first night both me and dh were amazed that I was sleeping. I didn't even think it had anything to do with this pillow. I had no expectations whatsoever aside from a nice cushion under my head. well NOW I know it can make all the difference in the world. I may eventually be able to give the doctor back all the sleeping pills he prescribed me or al least not ask for any more!. This is LUXURY FOR ME!!. Ive been functioning much better and I am in better moods with sleep so this pillow has made a huge impact on my life. Even I am amazed at all the benefits I am getting from this pillow. I can only speak to my experience but this was well worth the money. I purchased it as an open container through the warehouse of Amazon. I had no problem with my product. It arrived with a bit of an odor that quickly dissipated as the paper said it would. It says not to have any external heat on the pillow so you can't throw it in the dryer so be mindful of that. as some shredded pillows say the exact opposite. I have paid more for a memory foam pillow and didn't get anything close to the results of this one..
