Just finished assembling this deck box and it was better and easier than I expected. The instructions were pretty clear. I did it on my own, 5’8” 150 pound mom, and the few issues I had were with initial set up attaching the two long sides to the base. Tabs slip together and then you slide the panels to lock them in place. I could have used someone else to push the panel down while I slid, but after some awkward positioning I managed. The very last step was also tricky because the bolts are pretty snug to the panel making it difficult to fit a wrench and tighten, swearing I managed to get it done. I did open up the holes in the plastic lip and slammed the bolt in with a wrench and a rubber mallet. That was satisfying and worked. I have read reviews of SO many of these deck boxes and It was a difficult choice. They are all fairly unattractive and plastic. Not a fan, however, this seemed to have the best track record for keeping things dry, for ample storage space, and durability. We’ll see how it goes but so far, looks pretty good. I also purchased UV protection spray because a review I read suggested it would increase the life of the box. Don’t love a bottle of chemicals but I also don’t love throwing a huge chunk of plastic into the landfill because I didn’t take care of it. I recommend this deck box. I use it for cushions and it really does fit a lot. I got the grey one and the color works with my aged cedar shingles better than the brown would have. Good luck. :) ... show more

I love this storage bin. I have it on my patio to keep my outdoor furniture cushions in. It is huge-holds a LOT of pillows. I love this one so much I have another one on order and should be here soon. (I have a LOT of outdoor furniture. I put away all my cushions to the U shaped furniture set I have. I put my cushions from my patio set in it and I put my hammock in it to keep it from weathering. This bin is water proof and you can put a lock on it. I love it. ... show more

    • Great Deck Box - Takes a lot of time to assemble, missing screw holes

This is a great sturdy deck box and it stores a lot of seat cushions (we can store all of our 14 cushions of various sizes in the box) for our outdoor furniture, which is what we use it for. It did take about 2 1/2 hours to assemble when it should have taken approximately 45 minutes to do so. The back and front panels took excessive force with a rubber mallet (and two people involved) to push them into the locking positions on the base (it takes a lot more force than the Lifetime YouTube video which shows it done with a couple shoves of the foot - we found it took more forceful, careful pounding with a rubber mallet; but be careful not to damage the locking slots on the base for the front and back panels). There are a number of screw holes missing from the roto molding process by the factory, so be prepared to have and use a socket wrench set, ratchet screwdriver, and cordless drill with socket/phillips/slot screw attachments to create the holes in the four sides, so it can be assembled with the provided screws. The gas cylinders for the hinge assemblies are a nice touch, but we could not get these on tight, so they do work fine but we had to be satisfied with them attached to the bracket somewhat loosely. We like the deck box, it’s sturdy and should last and keep moisture out, just wish the Chinese factory that Lifetime uses had made real “lined up” holes for the screws to go into. I think if this were made in a USA roto mold factory, it likely would have had the holes for the screws. This is yet another example of the Chinese production process making assembly unnecessarily difficult for Americans and the rest of the world. ... show more

    • The king of deck boxes

I have had a similar model deck box by Lifetime for 11 years. It has weathered many storms and hurricanes. It's still going strong. This newer model looks even better. By way of contrast, I recently purchased a deck box at a local warehouse store. As soon as I saw how it was assembled, it went right back. It was made by Keter and it was total junk. This Lifetime model, on the other hand, assembles in a much more solid fashion. There is more engineering and critical manufacturing involved here. This deck box may cost more, but you're getting way more here. Lifetime is the brand you want in a deck box. ... show more
