Came compacted in the box for shipping, but was ready to be slept on almost immediately. We had tried out a 4" foam mattress for camping, and it was comfortable enough to give the 8" a shot. So glad we got the 8" - almost wish we'd gone bigger, but only to be higher off the ground. (We do have it on a great platform - no boxsprings needed.) It's very comfortable - firm enough for my hubby who likes it very firm, but soft enough for me (coz I don't like it very firm). Has a removeable cover that can be washed, but it definitely takes 2 people to put it back on. Be sure to notice which side is the top and which is the bottom - we got them reversed, and had a very "squishy" night until we realized it and flipped it back the next day! Purchased for my wife, who works hard everyday for our family. She was having poor sleep while sleeping on a futon. Her first couple of nights she said it helped her sleep. The mattress expanded to 7.5 inches. We Purchased the 8inch twin size. It feels like a cloud. It's firm but not too firm. You can definitely feel the memory foam. I think it was definitely worth the money. May purchase again down the road for my son or myself. The smell was normal for a memory foam. Aired out for alittle. Very confortable, but it stinks like skunk (literally). Three weeks into it and the smell is still there. I hope it will disappeare with time.

This is our third memory foam mattress. They can be a good cost effective alternative to traditional innerspring mattresses. This 8 inch mattress we put in our son’s bedroom. On its own, this mattress would be fine as a nightly bed for someone less than 200 pounds. Much heavier than that and it will feel too soft with that heavier person sinking deep towards the platform supporting it. From experience, I have found the more inches in memory foam tends to equal more support and firmness. We knew this probably would be too soft for our 235 pound son before receiving the mattress. We planned ahead and ordered a 3 inch memory foam topper to go with it. This has added much more firmness to the 8 inch mattress. This 8 inch mattress is good and well made and it makes a great foundation for out setup. One just has to understand the limitations of support that an 8 inch mattress will have and plan accordingly. And this 8 inch mattress is probably best for a max weight load of 200 lbs; or more with added inches in mattress toppers. Even with the added mattress topper, total price spent will still be a bargain compared many 10 or 12 inch memory foam mattresses out there. ... show more
