Like all biOrbs, the biOrb LIFE 15 uses ceramic media to provide biological filtration which has a surface area equivalent to the size of a soccer field. Any excess waste is collected and held in a filter cartridge at the base of the biOrb. To maintain your biOrb LIFE 15 all you need to do is simply replace the filter cartridge every four weeks and change a third of the water. The biOrb LIFE 15 uses the same proven filtration system as the rest of the biOrb range. The biOrb LIFE 15 is supplied with a standard long-life LED light. For safety and peace of mind, the lights and air pump are low voltage. The aquarium itself is made from acrylic, which is ten times stronger than glass and backed by a 2 year warranty. Smarter design makes fish keeping easy. Now you can have all the style of the LIFE collection in a smaller version. Bought this as a gift and it was a HUGE hit. As the purchaser I knew it would be an attractive aquarium but I was even surprised by how stunning it is all set up. The white sides are slightly translucent when the light is on and the reflected light of the water and the bubbles is beautiful and hypnotizing. Be prepared to $pend though. The tank was $100 and I spent another $100 on Biorb brand decorations, which you’ll prob want for this tank to fully utilize the “good bacteria” filtration method. But hey when the purpose of the product is to stare at it, I say make sure it’s a beautiful thing to stare at. Advice: The 4 gallon is a great size for a beta and fits nicely on a dresser. But even that smaller size needed two packs of white rocks and one of moss rocks to not look sparse. The taller “medium” plants also fit in this smaller size tank if you fill the water up a litter higher. ... show more

My main tank is a 25 gallon reef so I have pretty good knowledge of aquariums. I actually really like this little tank. If you are looking for something “pretty”, this is the way to go. Obviously, you need to have a really light bioload. The focus of this tank is more about the decor, and less about the inhabitants. For the 4 gallon size I wouldn’t advise more than a betta. With the larger sizes you could probably do a small school of tetras (or something similar). The main drawback of this tank is that the access at the top is very small so any type of maintenance is a real challenge. My 4 year old daughter loves the rainbow lights, and picking out the Biorb decorations is really fun. They even have holiday items available... why didn’t anyone think of this before?!! ... show more

I'm not new to the Biorb scene.I always brought the pricey decorations for my other fish tanks,but not the aquarium itself since they were so very expensive.Never in my life could I afford a Biorb AND the decor to set up such a beautiful tank. Well last week its like my prayers were answered.I causally checked amazon and they were selling this tank used for 40 bucks.I had to do a double take because I couldn't believe what I was seeing.Listing said It was in "very good with small cosmetic imperfections ".I quickly brought it,a 160 to 40 dollar tank I expected so many problems and probably a crack on the tank and missing aquarium kit parts.Something or anything that would justify the low price. I received the tank on Thursday and it arrived in perfect condition! Everything was brand new! Even the kit parts were still sealed.No damage to the tank or even a scratch.Very happy and please with my purchase,I transferred my old Biorb decor and rocks to this new tank and set everything up following the instructions.The tank looks so premium and so very nice that even if you paid full price,its worth every penny. I love the appearance of this tank. When the water is clear it is so beautiful. I had some issues though with the functionality of the tank filtration though. -- The rocks that came with the tank were large (I'm assuming this is to allow water to get to the filter at the bottom of the tank). My fish got stuck in the rocks and died. The instructions state these types of rocks are necessary for filtration, but I found them very difficult to keep clean. -- I cleaned the tank out and found far too much fish food and detritus was getting stuck in the rocks at the bottom of the tank and creating problems with the water. I've never used a tank with a filter like this, so I'm not sure if it was functioning as intended, seeing how dirty the tank was after a short period of time. -- I added some driftwood that released tannins turning my water a dark brown. The filter this tank has is really not capable of removing the tannins like other filters are. It's not a standard size filter and a lot of other filtering products aren't compatible. I had to put another filter on top in a very awkward set up in order to help clear the color from the water. If you're going to buy this tank you should be aware that the way you set it up is very important. I wasn't getting good filtration the way I set it up and the water turned toxic. It's also a bit of a hassle to stick your arm in the tank. The unique design can make it difficult to find additional products that will be compatible. Even with all the negative aspects, I still really like this tank for it's unique design. A more simple fish tank set up looks really great in this tank and functions great. Tldr; don't use driftwood and the tank will look great. ... show more

after I set up the aquarium, plug in the pump and light. I worked for a few minutes and just quit. First reaction is to look at the power source, then I notice the transformer input is 120VAC . Since this unit is supposed to be qualified for the Hong Hong market, so I assume the transformer will be those with 120-220 input. I am surprised to see we have this transformer included in this shipment. I like to see a correct transformer unit ship to me asap. thanks for your attention ... show more

    • Attentive nice seller, but terrible product

The seller is nice responsive but the product is terrible. I would only get this tank for a good sized fish that likes high flow. My shrimp and little fish keep getting sucked and trapped in the filter. From doing research I’ve found that I’m not the only one with this issue. The way that the pump is built into the tank makes it difficult to shrimp proof it. The air pump is very forceful. I had to buy an attachment to reduce the flow so my fish would feel more comfortable eating from the surface. Also be aware the the opening at the top is small, which limits the decorations you can put in. I really wish I could swap it for a different tank. ... show more
