This looked like a nice basic set to add variety. I have a small glockenspiel and a stomp box, it will be nice having more options to create percussion to accompany my songs when I record them. The mallets seem to have a decent quality to them for my needs. And, they do create some nice muted tones. They are on the softer end of these styles of mallets. They would probably be great for practicing. I'm not sure they would be good for performances. But, I'm not a percussionist. My biggest disappointment though is that the bag is not even large enough for the two mallets. The zipper runs right against the yarn on the wound mallets and eventually it is going to snag and ruin them if I tried to close it completely. There is room to get a set of 5A maple drum sticks in the bag, but then there is no chance to close the bag completely. In the long run, if you are trying to build a nice kit for yourself or a young percussionist, I would buy the mallets and bag separately so you get one that has more room for everything you could ever want to carry. If you are just setting up a home studio and want some basic percussion pieces, this is a decent set. But, again, I'm not a percussionist so take my opinion for what it's worth.

Two sets of mallets, yarn marimba and rubber head for two totally different sounds. They come in a nice carrying bag which will also hold another two pair of sticks or mallets. Nice for the price.
