This hitch is just as it appears, shiny black/red, and quite heavy, so expect it will perform to the specifications stated. The plastic cusp on the shackle itself seems to be well-adhered, do not think it would fall-off easily, nor the pin for the shackle, although over time, since it is threaded, could back out, as I have read in some reviews has happened. I intend to put the hitch on only when I need to use it, which is seldom, therefore no worry as to loss . The other thing you could do was just leave the post part of the hitch itself on, removing the shackle itself to prevent loss. Of course, you would have to get a locking hitch pin to prevent theft, as it does not come with one. It seems a really good value for the cost, considering the high weight capacity, compared to the others here, plus there is the "never rust" dynamic, if it is actually true. I would recommend it, at this point, but the "proof of the pudding" will be when I actually use it for the first time. ... show more

Arrived a day early, was surprised at how heavy it is! Solid steel, no tubular square stock. I read the other reviews about the pin unscrewing so I tightened it with an adjustable crescent. I'll use it for recovery with my 30 foot Kinetic recovery rope! I'm looking forward to someone being stuck, hopefully not me! ... show more

Have no doubt the pulling point is as strong or stronger than advertised. Has performed as designed. When not in use it serves as a holding point for wire rope, winch, hook during transit. The plastic protector eliminates hook rattle during transit.

I bought this as a "just in case" item since we are heading to northern Michigan. Many of the roads are muddy & sandy. It does come in a nice box so it will store nicely under the seat. It does appear to be ruggedly built and is very heavy. I'll edit my review once I use it.

Bought this shackle for a Jeep weekend of trail riding... ended up sideways with 2 wheels of the ground and almost rolled. I had a 20ft tow line hooked to my new shackle and within 2 minutes was pulled backwards and all was good! The red rubber part on the shackle is totally just for looks a flew off the moment I was being towed, but whatever... shackle trailer hitch held the weight of my Jeep being towed backwards out of a crevice. ... show more
