I got one of these to try and was so impressed, I bought 2 more. Set this up on a pond that is over 14 foot deep. Circulation is always an issue, and these solar bubble generators really help. Due to very high heat here in Arizona, anything you can do to oxygenate the water is so important, especially when temperatures soar. These really agitate the water and surface well. It works so well, even at night, that I ordered two more to cover the entire pond. I am very happy to have these. ... show more

    • Not strong enough
Worked okay once I got the parts needed. Had hoped it would be slightly stronger. It had much less pressure than I had expected it to have. It says works for ponds but I don't see how it could, with as weak as it was. It didn't move the water in a small small kids pool. It may be got half the water in it to move. At least some.     • I personally think this solar oxygen pump is not good because the oxygen time is too short.
The media could not be loaded. This solar oxygen pump is not good because it does not pump oxygen all day long, but only occasionally bubbles with oxygen. Fish cannot survive without oxygen, so I personally feel it is not good.

    • Works very well for remote pools
As I have mentioned in other solar pump reviews, we have several of these we are using to maintain fresher water in a number of wildlife ponds around our large property. So far, we have tested both solar water pumps and air pumps (the difference being whether they create a fountain effect or a bubbler. (Over time, we have found that the bubblers are the better option for a couple of reasons, but in particular for the very important reason that if they are displaced or overturned nothing really happens. When a fountain-type pump turns over it immediately begins shooting water out sideways and if it is in a shallow pool or angled just right, that means it shoots the water right out of the pool onto the ground! This has actually happened to us--nearly emptying a small pool filled with native frog tadpoles we are trying to help. (Fortunately, my husband discovered it just in time and there was no loss of life.) The second flaw of the fountain-type pumps is that they are so powerful that small animals (like tadpoles and baby salamanders) are sometimes sucked against the intake and killed. The bubblers don't do that. So ... about this Lewisia 5W Solar Air Pump Kit ... The first reason we like it is because it is an air pump (for the reasons already stated above). The second is that it includes a strong metal bracket for permanently attaching the solar panel to a wall or the side of the pool (or whatever you are using) so that it cannot be moved or overturned. (As important as that element is to the proper functioning of these little pumps, I am actually surprised that this is the first solar panel we have gotten that included something other than a flimsy plastic spike for sticking it in the ground.) Third, it includes a couple of large, heavy air stones that will actually sink to the bottom and stay there. Others have been quite small and tended to float. The fourth thing is that it includes a battery pack on the back of the solar panel so this will continue to work after dark or on cloudy days. We have yet to test whether it will continue to function for the full 12 hours the manufacturer claims, but it is good to have some backup. Overall, this is a nice little setup for a remote water feature or for wildlife pools in areas where electricity is not available. I would definitely recommend it! ... show more

    • So far so good, works all night.
I ordered this solar aerator because I'm planning on trying to get a start at growing hydroponically. One of the methods I've seen involves bubblers, so I thought this would be a perfect way to try that method. I've not had opportunity to get my set up going as yet, but I have given this pump a test run in my backyard. I'm very pleased so far. Everything in the setup seems quality. It is a nice sized and solidly made solar panel. The stones, hoses, and connectors all work together perfectly. I was really impressed by the fact that the aerator ran all night the first night, even though it only got a few hours of sunlight the afternoon before. It has ran for several days and nights with no issues, and all the modes worked as described. I can't attest to the longevity of the aerator, but I look forward to getting everything set up to test it properly. I really appreciate the idea of hydroponics, and perhaps later fish and hydroponics, without the need to run electrical cords. If I run into issues in the future, I will update this review. ... show more
