  • Great at the beginning!
I was very excited to get this pump as the reviews were good but most wrote the review soon after recieving it. I wanted to give the pump a little time before reviewing it. The little pump was powerful and the solar battery worked as it was written. When full sun hit the cell, the pump worked full cycle, but when a cloud or anything covered even part of the cell, the pump either stopped or slowed which was fine because that is how this particular one works, no power is stored for cloudy days, but that is OK. . BUT, after the second week of having it, the pump quit working all together. Now, I can't tell if it is the pump or solar part. I think it is the solar cell, because I feel no vibration of the pump at all, which I take as no power being sent to the pump. Maybe it was just bad luck and this particular little solar pump was just a lemon. I have not written to the seller yet as I don't think I have any recourse and am passed the time of return. I will update review if I speak with the seller. Follow up: The 5 star is for the seller. After reading my review they sent me out a replacement before I contacted the. Fantastic seller and a great little solar pump. ... show more

  • Outstanding would recommend; solid built; working fantastic!!!
The media could not be loaded. Update, still working strong. Only issue, if the water is dirty you just have to take the pump apart and clean the propeller magnet with a Q tip. Pump snaps apart easy, pull out propeller magnet, clean magnet & inside with Q tip... good for another month. Not an issue with the pump, just dirty water. Today is not a sunny day, cloudy @ times solar panel still working well. Also we are surprised how the noise of falling water in bringing in so many different species of birds. If I may add, we have family & friends around the country now going to order so local birds have a place to drink water. ... show more

  • Updated - NOT Worth the money
UPDATED - 11/23/18 - Well, that was short lived. It was working fine for a few days. Then it just quit. I took my fountain apart to look at the pump, nothing clogging it. I played around with it but could not get it to work. It just plain quit. Not worth it. I will save my money and purchase real solar fountain pumps. I bought this with little expectations, it was about $25 so I thought if it works great, if not I can have fun with the solar panel. (NOTE!!! I do not use the attachments for spraying, I just use the pump and solar panel to power a bird bath fountain I already have.) I bought it to power a small bird bath fountain which had a plug in pump that I never hooked up. It has sat around for about 5 years just holding water but I never used the pump that was in it. Went about cleaning it up and installing this little pump. Works very well for now. It does exactly what it says, it runs in direct sunlight and pushes the water up the approximately 18 - 24 inches of fountain. It does not have a lot of pressure but it pushes the water enough to circulate and make the fountain work. I finally have a running water bird bath. I just set it up today (11/16/18). If/when it fails I will try and remember to come update the review. I am going to experiment with placement of the solar panel to get the most run time. I also ordered another one so when this one fails (as it will, eventually) I will have another ready to use. Pros - worked out of the box, was able to adapt to my bird bath fountain, easy to use. Cons - did not have the little foam filter listed, that is it but I cannot give 4.5 stars. Overall very happy with it so far. ... show more

  • works as described, but only in the fullest of sun
plug-and-play ease, connected to my fountain's pump hose with no problem or leaks. my only issue is that it turns off or flows low unless there's direct, cloudless sunlight. you can actually watch the flow intensity fluctuating as clouds roll over the sky. it makes an interesting "breathing" effect where the sound of the fountain is connected to the sunlight intensity, but the downside s that the fountain spends a lot of time being OFF. wish there was a small battery in it that could store a bit of charge to maintain some consistency. ... show more

  • it runs great. But I live in Ohio
It has no gradient of operation, it is either running full speed or not at all. I guess I expected in moderately overcast conditions it would run slow, it doesn't. It needs full direct sunlight to run. When it runs, it runs great. But I live in Ohio, we get a lot of days where it is partly cloudy or slightly overcast. It does not perform well in these conditions. ... show more

  • Works As An Aerator
The media could not be loaded. I have no issues with this solar pump as it is doing exactly what I bought it for: to aeriate my birdbath. This is not a pump that runs on a solar battery so you have to expect that it will not run when there are clouds. I have it hanging on a hanging basket shepherds hook by a wire I installed through the two holes that were already on the frame of the solar panel. I did this so that I can change the direction of the panel to move with the sun. In the pictures you can see the position of the panel; the sun was not shining directly on the panel but the pump continually worked. It is not like this on cloudy days but is what I expected. I find that I prefer this over the ceramic battery operated water mover I purchased in 2016 which lasted one season before getting all corroded. ... show more

  • Amazing, it works well
Amazing, it works well. It’s nice to have different spray patterns. It really powers the water high for its size. I drilled the holes in my favorite to a very slightly bigger size to lower the spray and keep the wind from blowing the high spray away from the bowl & draining the fountain pool. It’s so sensitive to the light and “turns on at the first glimmers” until the panel is fully lighted and the fountain is fully spraying. Neat. ... show more
