  • A great addition to the home gym for strength training.
This lever gym is a great strength training machine, especially at this price. I replaced a 20 year old Bowflex and find that it feels like a better strength workout. It takes up about the same space too. The machine came quickly via FedEx. The two boxes arrived in good condition. The machine wasn't too bad for me to put together alone. Be aware the the instructions are not super detailed. I'd recommend a few tips: don't tighten the bolts until each part is completely assembled; this will help with aligning holes--especially when putting the base together and the vertical section. Also, it's not clear at all in the instructions, but when you run the cable into the frame for the lower rowing station you MUST make sure it goes behind the bolts that tie the upper and lower vertical pieces together. It ran over the bolts (in front of) when I installed it and then used the lower cable station the sheath around the steel cable was shredded and the action on the pulleys was not very smoothe. Fortunately the company was very responsive and quickly sent a replacement cable. When I installed it so it didn't run on the bolts it worked perfectly. Finally, if the pin for the adjustable leg brace (for the lat pulldown) doesn't fit, you probably need to take the leg brace out and flip it over. One piece of advice: because of the mechanical advantage of the pulley and the lever arms you will need a lot of weight plates. You can divide the weight on the lever arms by 1.5 and then add about 7.5 lbs for each level arm to get the true weight you're pushing. For the pulley, just divide the weight on the pulley arm by 1.5. I found some good and inexpensive Olympic plates from signature fitness. Make sure to leave 6-8" between the base of the machine and a wall to allow the pulley arm and 45 lb plates enough room to swing up. I love had it for about a month and use it for bench presses, seated rows, lat pulldowns, and tricep pushdowns and it's great for all of them. I haven't used the squat bar attachment yet. Although the machine doesn't come with a manual of exercises, other levergyms out there have descriptions on their websites or on YouTube videos and of course other attachments can be purchased on Amazon. If you're looking for a good all around strength training machine that is compact and versatile, I can definitely receive mmend this one. I don't regret it one bit. ... show more

  • The good, the bad and the ugly
Customer service deserves 5 stars. We had a shipping problem due to Fed Ex. I contacted the seller and it was replied to very quickly. They resolved the problem with exceptional service and speed. I have owned and used a SoloFlex for 10 years and a BowFlex for 17 years. I wanted to move to free weights but wanted the safety of a machine. I have tested out a Powertec and liked the idea of a leverage machine just was unsure how it would work for me. The price of the Powertec was high for a system I was unsure of. I came across this leverage gym and figured I would give it a try. First, it is NOT Powertec quality. When I started to unpack the machine I had to take it outside. The amount of rust that was coming out of the arms and other parts was substantial. I eventually got all the pieces back inside and started the assembly. The directions are just a guide. There are a few pieces that need to be assembled in a different order. The main problem is the cable pulley that holds the weight plates needs to get in stalled with the up rights and the cable needs to be fed behind the bolts for the up rights. I added a little super lube to the guides for the bearing and other parts. I wanted to get a full week of a routine before I give a review. The machine worked well performing chest and arms. I found a major flaw when using the bar attachments for the leverage arms. When I add anything more then a 45lbs plate on either side the leverage arms flex inwards and the bar falls off. I was unable to close grip bench press, up right rows and squats. There is just too much flex in the arms. I have a temporary fix that I have not tested out with full weight. I put a piece of PVC tube between the leverage arms And it keeps them from flexing inwards. I enclosed a picture. The machine would work well if you are doing light weight or never plan on using the straight bar attachment. The machine itself was stable loaded with weight. I do like the leverage gym concept. ... show more

  • Nice machine
Great machine for a small space. You can work every part of your body with it. Very sturdy. Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the boxes were packed horribly and the boxes came destroyed with holes. Some missing bolt but a quick trip to Home Depot took care of that. There was also some cosmetic damage. Now the only reason I'm not giving 1 star for all that is because the seller was extremely responsive and ultimately offered a partial credit which satisfied me. ... show more
