I was a little bit apprehensive about buying this lock because of the reviews. At this time it has a 3.7 which I think after purchasing the product is undeserved. I am an apple HomeKit user so if it does have problems with Alexa, it is a relevant to me. However, one review stated that the black wasn't "black" but brownish and a little bit glossy - Not totally satin... in my case, mine came perfectly painted, and it appears to be a very good finish. No complaints on quality there. Another review stated that it was slow to lock or unlock. For a moment I had the same problem, but I realized it was because I skipped trying to download the Level home app. Even though you can straight up, scan the code to make it work with HomeKit you need to download the Level home app and make sure it has the latest firmware installed and is properly calibrated. I too want to skip the extra software and I really like when I don't have to get my info to yet another company. But you need the app so that way it is always running the latest software to officially work with newer versions of HomeKit, etc. once I did that the lock responded as quickly as my other Yale smart lock I have on my front door with keypad. All my other exterior doors have this lock installed and I love it. One observation is that my plate on the doorwaylwas smaller than what came with the level lock so I had to chisel out a larger indention to have that plate be flush with the door sill like the original was from before.

Ok so I ordered one after seeing that most YouTube reviews suggested this lock as the top lock for homekit, plus I am a renter and I like how it is hidden and this was a no drill or mod installation. The first one I had kept loosing connection with my HomePod mini. And after days of putting up with it I returned it and decide to by another one hoping it was just that specific lock. Well it was not that specific lock. I kept getting notifications all day long that the lock was on or offline and then it wouldn't work when I arrived home half the time because of connection stability. So I called Level Lock customer service, which was very pleasant interaction and didn't even have to wait on hold. So when I was on the line with Level Locks support tech he had me do some things like make sure range booster is on, but he informed me that range booster doesnt extend the range of connection, it just sends out a signal more often like once every 10 seconds vs once every 20 seconds so it would increase the stability of the connection. So we tested it and no success, and at that time he had me move my homepod mini across the room and put it about 3-5 feet away from the lock (which is the distance they say it needs to be to be a stable connection) and that sucks because I don't want my HomePod sitting on the bench next to the door because the locks bluetooth range is abysmal. So even with the HomePod right next to the lock I am still getting about 6-8 notifications a day that say it's offline and online. I even tried swapping out the HomePod with another one I had in my game room, and that too was a major disappointment. The HomePod and lock were both upto date on firmware. But as I am writing this review, Apple just dropped an update 16.3.1, so maybe that will fix the stability issue but that still doesnt change the fact that I have to have my HomePod in my front entry way on the bench because the lock cant reach past 5-7 feet for bluetooth. And that is pretty sad. So in conclusion I would at least tell you to proceed with caution and be aware that the connection stability is anything but good. And I really wanted to like this lock.

I’ve had this for almost a week. I bought it when it was marked down to $200. It works fairly well but I have a major complaint. THE KEYS THAT CAME WITH THE LOCK ARE THE WRONG KEYS. LEVEL WILL NOT REPLACE IT. Here’s what went down: I contacted customer service and after a couple days of back and forth via email (providing photos of the install) they eventually asked me to very the lock rod (which has a key code on it) with the key code (stamped on the key). They of course didn’t match. I was asked to provide purchase information. I did so. I was told that must have been a used unit (it was not) because of the purchase price. I assured them it was brand new in the box (still shrink wrapped) and the listing said nothing about it being used. Their final statement was as follows: “Looking at the receipt it does look like it was a "Used, Like New" through Amazon's warehouse deals for a lower price. We wouldn't be able to send out a warranty replacement for something like this, but ultimately, contacting a locksmith to cut keys that match the tailpiece code would be the fastest option regardless.” Anyway, it works fine other than the key. So be warned if you get it from Amazon and have a problem you may find yourself in a similar unresolved situation. Update: A couple of day after I wrote this I uninstalled it and returned it to Amazon.

I gave this lock 3 stars for a reason. I bought this Level Lock only because it was slim fitting on the inside part of the door and not those big bulgy square locks for the inside, because I had no room on the door. This Level lock claims it works with Alexa, but it really doesn't. I have the Alexa Echo and this lock does not work with it unless you purchase a bridge device. This being said, I was disappointed. I also have Google Nest throughout the house and this lock does not work with that either. So, this Lock only works with Bluetooth range, which means that you can only lock or unlock the door if you are close to it, from inside or outside of the house. You cannot lock or unlock the door from another location throughout the house unless you are standing near the lock. And if you forget to lock the door after you leave the premises, you cannot lock it. Another words, this lock does not function from a distance away of the lock. Works only in range with Bluetooth unless you purchase bride devices to work with Wifi.
