I bought this crate during a flash sale to replace the current crate that I have for my two chihuahuas. They sleep in a crate together in my room at night and I wanted something larger that would allow them more room to stretch out. I looked through lots of different types and styles of crates before I landed on this one, and then when I saw it was on a flash sale, I decided to buy it. The crate itself is great. It sets up super easily, the color is nice, and the fabric and construction are of good quality. However, as soon as I took it out of the box, it had the worst smell. The only way I know to describe it is a chemical fishy odor. I knew after I unboxed it that I couldn't keep the crate in the house or it would stink up the entire place, so I set it out in the garage to air out. However, after a few days of sitting in the garage, it still had a strong chemical/fishy smell. So, I decided to try to neutralize the odor by wiping the entire thing down with soapy water, followed by plain water, and finally spraying it well with pet fabric Febreeze. After this, it smelled somewhat better, but I could still smell the chemical fishiness under the Febreeze scent. So, I sprayed it well with Febreeze again, hoping the second round would fully get rid of the smell. After the second spraying, the chemical fishy odor was mostly gone, but then the crate smelled too strongly of Febreeze. So, I decided to set the crate outside in the sunshine to see if that would finally knock out all of the odor problems. I had to set it outside for multiple days in the sun before the crate finally smelled decent. It now has a slight hint of the Febreeze scent and the chemical fishy smell is totally gone, but it took a lot of work to get here. I know other reviews mentioned the crate having a bad smell, but I didn't realize it would be this extensive until mine arrived. Now that I've been able to bring it inside, the chihuahuas love it. On another side note, one of the selling points of this crate was that it came with a fuzzy pad for the bottom of the crate. And it does come with a pad that has a removable cover, but when I took the cover off to wash it, I noticed it said the cover was spot clean only. As all pet owners know, spot clean only isn't going to cut it with pets. We need machine washable everything. So, I decided to ignore the label and wash the cover anyway (the cover also had the chemical fishy odor). I washed it in warm water (trying to get rid of the smell) and on a normal cycle, then dried it on delicate and it came out fine. I had to wash and dry it twice to get the smell out, but it makes a nice little cushion for the bottom of the crate (it is thin, but the chihuahuas seem to like it so far). So, to sum up, this is a great quality crate that has a lot of good things going for it, but the smell was terrible. So, if you don't mind having to spend a week airing it out and Febreezing it before use, then this is your crate. But if you'd prefer something with no stink, you should probably look elsewhere.

We use this in the back of our Suburban for our German Shepherd to travel with us. Fits great in cargo area with room to spare. He jumps straight into crate when tailgate is open. Love the mesh sides to allow him to see some and air to easily circulate. Only downfall was the horrible smell (smelled like dead fish). Discovered it was mainly the pad, but after 2 washes in the washing machine and febreezing the rest of the crate and leaving outside for a day, it was gone.

This crate is exactly what we wanted. Large enough for my 70 lb Australian Shepard. Seems like it's made well. To be honest we do not contain him in this crate - he uses it as a place that he likes to lay in on his own time. Only thing that would have been better would be that it didn't stink so bad when we took it out of the box and plastic. We had to leave it outside in the sun to air it out for a couple of days before I felt safe letting him use it. I would buy another one if I needed it.

I had 2 separate smaller kennels that I had prior to having the dogs. That's what they slept in. But they really like sleeping together. Mother and daughter. This size works great! Comes with a thin pad to lay on the bottom, but I purchased a separate pad that is reversible warm and cool sides. They love it and we're excited!

This was the biggest crate I could find and I was worried that it might not measure up to the price. It is worth the price and more. My doggie and I can fit comfortably in it, it’s so roomie! The folding function actually works, without feeling as though you might break it. Everyone who sees it asks me where I got it. It is sturdy and has a nice look too. My dog is 120 lbs and the X-Large is perfect.
