The claims of AI are so being overused today. It's a catchphrase that people look for, like when SMART was the keyword of the day. Most of the time it's only used to get the attention of the shopper who doesn't know but wants to learn. I remember getting a "SMART Light Bulb" once that was only a light bulb. This is an RGB light rope, what does it need AI for? It's only run by an advanced algorithm that was getting close to being able to act as an AI. (Some of my code is still in the AI that a huge company that starts with an "M" and ends in "soft" still uses today. Trust me on this one!) Moving beyond my rants about claims of AI brooms and AI-powered desk lamps (sorry, it's a hot button of mine), this is a quality RGB rope. The cover diffuses the individual LEDs to make it a solid light the entire length. The APP is seriously lacking and hopefully, they will be updating it soon. These lights are great, feels like good quality, fairly easy to use, about what you would expect from a quality neon rope. They work, and are very nice, but I am not sure I am sold the app. I packed them back up after testing because I am not ready to tackle that project yet so I hope there will be updates. However, it has no presets for regular lighting. There are presets for the music function though. Basically, it seems to me that it is left up to you to create your own manual presets and remember to save/fav the ones created when you use the A.I feature in order to populate your presets list. This is fine for tinkerers, but I think for the regular consumer, there needs to be presets ready to go out the box. At the end of the day, it seems like a good rope, for sure. It works, looks good, has decent brightness and color range, seems to have a bunch of possibilities for making presets and the A.I. is kind of fun to play with. It is fun to see what type of lighting it thinks you should have at any given moment. So, I stand torn. Yes, I think they are great lights, I just think the app needs more presets ready to be used. The app works fine as well btw. I do think it is a little slow to respond when playing with manual settings, but it works fine. I think it needs to react to the manual changes in real time, it seems like it does not currently. Changing presets is faster though. Now here is the kicker, the price for these is seriously respectable. You are getting smart neon ropes for less than some regular ones. Oh, btw, I am not sure this came with a remote, or if it was even supposed to, but I do not have one. This is ok for me because I have the app and smart home connectivity, but this may be an issue for some people. Yes, there are buttons on the controller as well. Would I recommend these, absolutely, for the right situations. At the price point, I would probably even recommend them over a lot of regular neon rope solutions as well. I have seen basic RGB options that cost more than these with no smart connectivity or anything. Might as well go smart if the price is right. I would buy these over the regular ones just because of the price, just to have the option to use the features if I wanted to... Note: it's pretty cool to be able to snap a pic or vid and get lighting recommendations out of it, I will say that for sure!! Just saying...
