  • Fantastic guitar for an amazing price.
Color: US Flag
This is the guitar I wanted from Sears when I was a kid. Looks great, Plays great, stays in tune. I had spent the night practicing on a Gibson LP Std, and a PRS MCcarty, then this arrived and the happiness continued. The intonation was a tiny bit out, but it tuned right up, and the patch I had loaded had it growling hard rock immediately. The surprise was switching to a smooth sound, backing off the tone and it produced a creamy, warm jazz tone that cost me an hour of my life exploring. I have a set of P90 humbucker pickups coming for this guitar, but I am going to buy another one to see what more I can get from these with other mods. With the price of even Epiphones going through the roof, I would happily recommend Leo Jaymz guitars to anyone looking for a first guitar, or anyone looking to mod, or anyone just wanting a great looking guitar that plays well. The neck, and the rest of it, look and feel like my 1967 Teisco, which is a good thing, as those are great cheap guitars too. The pickups are slightly microphonic, but much tamer than the antiques, and much clearer. It will need to be restrung and some fretboard oil applied, and the frets buffed. as they are very scratchy out of the box from sitting and shipping. ... show more

  • Great Guitar
Color: Navy Blue
This is an unbelievably great guitar for the price! Very playable right out of the box. Hardly any fret sprout. Bridge was fairly intonated. Nut is well cut, and amazingly, has no sharp edges! I almost never see that, at any price. The Alnico V pickups sound legit. The neck is comfortable. The action is not terrible. Very playable. With a few small adjustments, a little bit of fret polishing and just a tiny bit of fret end filing, this guitar will be far better than a lot of instruments that cost many times more! If you're thinking about getting one of these guitars, do not hesitate. I don't think you can find better quality at this price and even at a lot higher price, in many cases! ... show more

  • Great guitar for the money.
Color: Navy Blue
I ordered this guitar based on the price and other reviews. I build and mod guitars as a hobby so I ordered this thinking I would have to change some hardware and electronics. All I really needed to do was adjust the truss rod and the string action a bit. After that, I checked the intonation which was pretty spot on. I decided that the hardware and electronics are adequate for what this guitar is. The fit and finish of this guitar is excellent and the neck is great with level frets and no sharp fret ends. It plays and sounds fantastic for a guitar of this price range. The pickups are not microphonic and the guitar looks and plays great the way it is, much to my surprise. I had planned on at least changing the strings but I don't think I'm even going to do that because they are pretty good. I would recommend this for someone just starting out even though a few adjustments might be needed. Leo Jaymz really did a nice job with this guitar. ... show more

  • Worth the price
Frets were level, but some sharp fret ends..It was intonated very well out of the box and the string heighths were satisfactory although the first thing I did was put on a new set of 9's and lower the action just a bit..The tuners don't hold tune very well, some jumping in the gears on a couple of the tuners..but that's ok, at this price you can usually expect to replace the tuners anyways..The pots are smooth turning and quiet. The three way switch is good, no play in the mechanism. The construction of the guitar is sound..I was buying this to modify anyhow. Since it's black I ordered some gold locking tuners, a gold roller bridge and tailpiece, and some better (tonerider) humbuckers in gold finish. As long as the wiring harness continues to function properly I will use the one that came with it although I haven't opened it up and I'm not sure about capacitors, so if there aren't any or they are just the run-of-the-mill orange drops I will install some bumblebees instead..Change the knobs to black tophats with gold tone and volume ref. on the top, change screws to gold ones, and then it will be a nice black SG with gold hardware.. So the $125 I have in it, plus another under $200.00, I have a nice SG that'll blow any $750.00 Epiphone out of the water, and be just about able to keep up with alot of Gibsons.. So yes, for me, it's well worth the money.. ... show more

  • You're going to love this guitar!
Color: Black
Absolutely flawless! This black beauty tuned up perfectly and the intonation was spot on. Fretwork seems very smooth, maybe a very minor rough edge on a couple, but I have the tools to smooth them out if I wish. Neck is straight with no apparent bowing. Tuners seem smooth as glass, but will give them time to aclimate to the strings to see if they stay in tune. The strings are common type, seem to play well, but of course I will change them to Ernie Ball Slinky's down the road. Fretboard looks just like rosewood, but i am no expert to determine if it is a composite or not. The nut looks like bone, but if it is not, they sure did a good job aging the plastic to look like it. Over all, it is a beautiful guitar to look at and I am extremely happy with it. ... show more

  • Solid, entry level guitar for a beginner.
Color: Black
You Tube videos rave about this guitar and I agree, it's very good for the price. Perfect for a beginner. Probably pairs up well with the Spark Go mini amp. Not sure it's better than a Yamaha Pacifica-012 at $250.
