  • Love creating with this!
Style: Sony E-Mount
The media could not be loaded. This lens is so versatile. I love the dreamy bokeh/blur I get when using this. It forces me to think more about each picture I take or video I record. If you want some beautiful shots and love challenging yourself then definitely scoop this up.

  • Get fun photos and video, and improve your skill, with no post-processing.
Style: Sony E-Mount
When used to it's strengths, makes fun pictures. There is a learning curve, which for those of us who've shot manual focus for 1/2+ of our lives, is no biggie, and on the Sony, is easy to use peak focusing esp. on Sweet. When you nail something with Twist it's fun, hardest of all, and I'm still learning velvet - what is lovely is how small it is, and also the ability to do dual imaging / two lens art with no editing. Solid build, as always with Lensbaby, likely to last forever, and the filter screw is nice touch. The way I shoot with my other Lensbaby is center anyway, and the f 3.5, etc. mean that learning exactly how the camera will respond is easy. If you goal is interesting street, art, and non-moving sources - works, as you learn. I also shot video with it - time lapse, and person on a stage, and was pleased with the results. (For comparison, I have a F2 Lensbaby, and I usually wind up putting it center anyway.... ) Best benefit, really, really helps learn composition, by removing everything else but shutter speed, iso. That's priceless. Realize also it's 28mm - on a full frame, pretty darn wide, and even in APS-C mode, still pretty wide. Best results so far - subject within 8" to 3 ft, and interesting, if blurred backgrounds. So, with no editing, can get fun photos and video, and improve your skill. ... show more

  • This is a fantastic lens !
Style: Fuji X
The quality image is sharper than i expected. 3 different effects are dream-like and very fun ! A must have lens for Fujifilm X mount users ! But it would be perfect if a regular 28mm lens without any effect is included so Users can choose to use it when times they do not want effect.

  • I really wanted to love this lens but...
Style: Sony E-Mount
I really wanted to love this lens but there was too much compromise to achieve "meh" results. I like using prime lenses so I understand having to "use your feet to focus" & paying extra attention to compose well with the frame. However, to achieve the selective effects, you're always confined to having the subject within 3-4 feet. So if for any reason you can't do that, then the novelty of this lens cannot be achieved. I received better results with the $30 Fotasy N35 CCTV lens. At least the effects on that lens were achievable with subjects from within inches to upwards of 10-20 feet. I was also disappointed by the build quality. When I opened the Amazon box, the lensbaby box itself wasn't packaged nicely. The lens was loose inside a cardboard cutout. The black plastic parts of the lens were wet/oily with that cheap plastic residue you see from poorly manufactured plastic toys. The overall weight of the lens also felt cheap & plasticky- not of a solid metal build quality. So if you're looking for a fun, "artsy" lens to play around with, I suggest trying that $30 before committing to this $300 lens. ... show more

  • Sweet, and Twist
Style: Fuji X
I rented this for a week from LensRentals.com and learned some things that I hope will help someone else! If you have questions or I've incorrectly explained something, please leave a comment and I'll fix it. The lens has three effects: Velvet, Sweet, and Twist. I've attached two photos of my son on the trampoline that show the Sweet and Twist effects. In the first, where his head is tilted to the left, you can see the Twist effect. In the second one, this is the Sweet effect.(The black and white photo is just to show what happens when you put the lens between effects. See my comment below.) What I liked: light weight, flat size. I've included a picture of it on my Fuji X-t2 for reference. I also really liked the Twist effect. I liked that both the Twist and Sweet have a sharp area of focus. What I felt was just OK: The focal length, 28mm is typically a little wider than I shoot and I found myself cropping photos which then crops the desired effect. What I can't see myself using: The Velvet setting. This setting gives your photos an all over softness. This might be good for different types of portraits than I do. Unfortunately, I didn't like the effect and I didn't keep any of the images to share. I have friends with the Lensbaby Velvet 56 and they use it for macro images. Personally, I can see that lens being more versatile than the Velvet option on this lens. Other things to note: 1. This is a manual focus lens. If you use the in-camera focusing aids (e.g. focus peaking), you'll find it easy to use. I could clearly see the area of focus for the Sweet and Twist settings. 2. If you put the lens between effect settings, you can get some photos with a double exposure effect if that's your area of interest. I only tried that once - see the black and white for a quick example. 3. The area of focus is always in the middle. You probably know that but I'm mentioning because I found it a little limiting when I was composing photos. I have since purchased a Lensbaby Sweet 35 and Edge 50. With these lenses on a composer pro, you can move the area of focus to closer to the rule of thirds. Will I buy it? Maybe. I really liked it mainly for the Twist effect. As I researched the LensBaby Twist 60, I learned the effect of the Twist 60 won't show up well on a cropped sensor camera unless you are using one of the adapters that reduces the crop factor/more closely maintains the angle of view (e.g. Mikaton Lens Turbo ll N/G-FX or Zhongyi Lens Turbo Adapters ver II) . Given the cost of such an adapter + the twist optic, I would probably purchase the Trio instead just for the Twist effect.. Note - Regarding the Twist effect, I also have a cheap Helios 44-2, the Russian lens known for its "twist" look. The Helios has a far less pronounced of a Twist effect and unless I'm at a particular distance with backlighting, I don't see the twist effect with that lens. The Trio is much more predictable of a Twist effect at any distance from the subject. I hope this was helpful. I can see this being a fun lens if you want to see your everyday surroundings in a new way (borrowing from the LensBaby tag line!). With the wider field of view, I think it would be fun for travel. If you are shooting kids, mine saw some novelty in seeing the different effects so that helped them be more engaged as subjects. ... show more
