  • I'm selling it..waste of time
Capacity: Windows 11 Pro
Revised.. After a year on and off with this thing, I've had enough. At the screen size of 16" this is too large to fit as a tablet, but too big to be a laptop that is some what 'portable'. The screen quality is great, high definition with sharp contrast and vibrant colors. A few small hiccups however causes the touch functions in tablet mode to give a bit of glare, the camera tries to auto adjust the brightness, but, I found myself adjusting the brightness at our more than 60%. The keyboard is light weight, the USB ports however have given me problems. After 3 or 4 months, I noticed the USB 3.0 slots were not recognizing devices. These ship with 90 days of support from Lenovo. I purhcased this one on behalf of the 'ease of repair'. But after some digging, the ports either grow faulty over time or require a software or firmware update. When my touch pad stopped responding, I checked my bios, updated my windows functions, then I thought, it might be operating system related to windows 11. I moved from Windows 11 to Linux Mint considering the semi-exodus of disgruntled users decrying the functions and online accounts. But, the fact I have to travel as often with my laptop, carrying a mouse with its own power source to side step a function built into the device I owned for less than a year annoyed me. I reached out to lenovo support, however, the support for the device expired and I was faced with a dilemna. either sell it for a replacement (after a year of use, its relatively great shape, but it's lost its brand new resale value) or open it up and try to fix the issue myself. ironically, after I hit the sell option, wrapping up the device for shipping, I installed another fresh copy of windows 11 as a courtesy to the buyer. I tested the functions, keyboard, screen and hinges (I'll get too that) only to find that, surprisingly, the touch pad began working again... So, the screen hinges are the most annoying piece of hardware since the microsoft surface. I again, purchased this device for the sake of it doubling as a tablet. The Yoga, unfortunately, 'can' operate as a tablet. While literally 'breaking' this laptop in half to put it into a tablet mode, the hinges on the yoga are held together and operational with a screwed in plate under two half inch tabs. the tabs cover the screws which burrow into the screen hinge and allow it to be manipulated into the tablet function. While the motion is pretty smooth and adjustable. I found, that, with many devices that tout a 'tablet mode'. the physical mechanism to hold it in place began to pop and loosen up. While it is smooth, I have a terrible fear that, one day, the thing will snap, break or basically become impossible to keep held in position as the hinges lose their support and the screen flops around like a broken limb. It's the reason why, putting aside the gaming aspect, the AMD Ryzen 7 is amazing, but, for the built in graphics card, invest in another $800 and build yourself a custom. I won't have any real ability to 'upgrade' this device. There is a single slot DIMM, the slim M.2 card is expandable, but, breaking this thing down to get too it feels like too much work. I understand laptops are trying to blend 'functionality' with added specifications that increase productivity or give you the best 'bang' for buck. But, at this juncture, tablet/laptops operate in this fine line between, making a $300 tablet into a laptop with a built in keyboard. The back light keyboard is amazing, functions on the keypad and full number keys is great, I would say the USB-C charging is amazing, allowing me one charger for both my phone and laptop -- but the overall is that I can grab a 11" or 12" tablet for functions such as work notes, meetings, public speaking, general entertainment and checking balances etc. At the end of it all, I wanted a laptop/tablet that could function in my daily life as well as some business on the side, to sign PDFs, log into cisco or networking devices but not be as heavy or bulky as a 'full' laptop. I think its going to be consistent that I separate the functions of either into two devices. I will praise lenovo for their ingenuity on the design. For me, I haven't found a solution for MYSELF. But, a tablet with a separate notebook will always be superior for me. ... show more

  • BitLocker Recovery Problem
Capacity: Windows 11 Pro
I've had to go through the tedious BitLocker recovery process several times, even though I've had this laptop only a few months. Because of this, I'm back to using my previous laptop. I don't know if it's the laptop or the operating system (Windows 11).

  • Perfect for everything
Capacity: Windows 11 Pro
Amazing laptop. I use it for college and for gaming. Works well for both. everything runs very quickly. It is extremely easy to set up. It has fingerprint scanner and facial recognition. There is also a slider that can be used to cover the front camera for privacy. It is the best computer I found that can run so many things at once. My only complaint is that the speaker can cause a sort of staticky noise because of vibration. Kind of like an echo like the recording is being recorded from a distant. IT does not cause any major issues for me just some minor annoyance. ... show more
