    • Nice Laptop Overall, But Terrible WiFi Card

Great: - Screen is very nice. This one does NOT have the OLED, and I consider that to be a plus because I tried an OLED model in the past and it hurt my eyes and had really bad glare. This one is just a matte screen with good colors and a higher refresh rate. It's perfect in my opinion. The matte finish has basically no glare, and I think it looks better than the Samsung monitor I use with my desktop. - The keyboard is one of my favorite things about Lenovo computers. I personally think it feels better than a MacBook keyboard. There's a good amount of resistance when you're pressing the keys down, good key travel for a laptop, and it has a really nice sound to it as far as laptops go. Backlighting is good too. I just set mine to dark blue to match my Lich King wallpaper. I would say the only thing I don't like about it is the F-keys are shrunken down, but it's not a big deal because I don't use them other than to adjust sound and screen brightness occasionally. - Performance is good as well. I play WoW Classic at native resolution and completely maxed out settings, and I'm consistently getting 120+ FPS. It's better than the M5 MacBook Pro that I had, which cost a lot more money. - Fan noise is reasonably quiet for a gaming laptop. For general use I do hear it a little. It's not MacBook Pro quiet, but it's not bad at all. When gaming, I'd say it's quieter than the Asus Zephyrus G14 and Asus TUF A16. - Heat management is pretty dang good too. I don't have any tools or use any software to measure it, but I've noticed I just don't feel the heat through the keyboard as much as I did with my previous laptops. Okay/Good: - I/O (port selection) is Good. It has an ethernet jack, which is nice. It has three USB-A and two USB-C ports, so plenty of ports for your peripherals. There's an HDMI port, which is awesome because if you're doing presentations anywhere, HDMI is the most common from my experience. Basically, you won't need any adapters unless you do photography (which I do sometimes, which is why I consider it to be Good, but not Great). Also all the ports are on the sides now, which is weird. The previous Legion laptop I owned had a few ports on the back, which helped to keep the cables out of the way a bit better. - Plastic body. Not a huge deal. It does save a little weight compared to metal, but it doesn't feel as nice as the previous Legion laptop I owned. - Trackpad is accurate and feels fine to the touch. Sometimes I find myself accidentally right-clicking when I don't want it to. Basically the way to get around this is to make use of the Tap To Click feature. This makes it so you can just tap on the trackpad instead of having to physically press down on it. - Battery life is okay. Currently I'm at 93% and there's an estimated 3 hours of life remaining. If you're watching YouTube videos or using some heavier productivity software, that's going to go down of course. I think it's good for a gaming laptop. - Value for money is good for the current market. It sucks that just about a year ago I probably could have gotten this laptop for $1,300, but it is what it is. Meh: - Styling is bland. I know brands are always changing over time, and I think this time it's a downgrade. It looks pretty basic, and I don't love the black keys on the grey body. Also the bezel is black, which looks strange contrasting with the grey body. And there's a weird blue trim around the rear vents that just looks totally out of place. Like they could have made everything all grey or all black and it would have looked better. Bad: - Speakers have basically no bass. It says "audio by HARMAN" on the left wrist rest, but they suck. They must just add that just for the name recognition. - WiFi is horribly slow. I'd highly recommend just ordering an Intel AX210 card at the same time as you order the laptop, and swap it out immediately. With the stock Realtek card I was only getting about 40mbps, but as soon as I installed the Intel card and the correct drivers, it went up to 300mbps. - Bottom panel is pretty hard to remove. It's not the worst (like the old white MacBooks), but it used to be a lot easier. In the past I could just take out the screws, grab the corner, and peel off the back panel. With this one, I had to break out my little pry tool to get one of the corners to pop up, and then I was able to take it off. Overall I think it's still a good laptop aside from the WiFi. You will basically NEED to upgrade the WiFi card unless you want to spend 10X as long downloading games. ... show more
