  • Better than expected...
Great way to start July 4th...it arrived today. All the way from Missouri to the Philippines in a few days. At least that's what UPS showed. It is definitely as advertised. It has everything it says in the advertising. Apparently I got mine from ECO TECH, LLC. I did want a backlit keyboard, but it was not advertised so it's not on there. A backlit keyboard would be about another $40. Easy enough to install. The Thunderbird port is why I opted for this unit and the fact that it can be upgraded. I check the speed and got about 1400MB/s. Fast enough for Thunderbolt 3 port, but after I install a TB M.2 NVMe I'll see if that improves. For now I'm fine with what it can do. I wouldn't suggest any serious gaming on here, but i got this for work. I use a lot of MS Access and Excel, not to mention Word and Power Point. It handles those very quickly so it's exactly what I was looking for. I got this for about $260, but the total was about $370 because I had to have it shipped to the Philippines. Even with that price I'm happy. I saw a Thinkpad here for $300 plus and it's nowhere near the specs of this machine. Additionally the Thunderbolt does allow faster charging though I had to try three different USB-C charges before one of them worked. In the end, this thing looks brand new. It feels brand new. But those Youtubers were right, it will show your greasy fingers on it. The camera on here seems to be better than the one on my M1 Macbook Air. The screen is perfect for productivity. Not sure I'll be doing any video editing on here, but I did find that the audio jack is much louder than any of my Macbook's (Air, Pro), my Huawei and my Asus. I recorded audio internally using Audacity and it reproduced the sound much louder without any clipping or distortion. I might have to see if I will prefer this as my audio studio from here on out. The fingerprint scanner works great though it's not as smooth as my Huawei or my Mac Air. My Macbook Pro doesn't have one, but my Asus fingerprint scanner is not as good as the one on here. The trackpad is accurate, smooth and comfortable. The keyboard....well...it crushes any of my Macbooks....and I've had three. They're right when they say Thinkpads have the best keyboards. This thing didn't have a scratch on it. As far as I can tell without opening it, it looks like it's never been out of the box. I'd easily recommend this laptop and the seller. Very happy with this purchase. Adding on the experience... It's been a few days now and I can't seem to get the battery indicator light to show if it's charging or not. It never lights up, but it does show charging on Windows 10 Pro with the standard or Thunderbolt charging ports. No matter, everything else makes up for that minor hiccup. I'm finding I'm using this more than my Macbook M1 Air. Probably because I've been working on MS Access again. Very stable machine. Update 3-27-23 Well...I sold my T-470. Not because it was bad, but I finally got to experience a solid ThinkPad. It was so good that I bought a ThinkPad with this designation (Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7820HQ CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz). Yep...I bought an even faster and better one...with a backlit keyboard and 4K. I sold my T-470 to a friend and she absolutely loves it. It might be old, but I had upgraded it before I sold it so it's actually performing better than when I got it. But again....it was why I bought another ThinkPad. I wouldn't buy a new ThinkPad as they are pricey. I'd wait a year and buy a used one that's like these that I bought...like brand new. The one I bought would be thousands of dollars new....but I didn't come close to that. Not even a thousand dollars. Very happy with ThinkPad and I've owned very many MacBook Pros...including the new M1 Air. ... show more

  • 10/10 Highly Recommend, although now it's slightly outdated
Here is my Lenovo Legion 5 with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, and 3050ti GPU. It came with 16 gigs of ram and I upgraded to 32. It's been dropped, overused, taken apart, put back together, and is on its 2nd screen replacement. The track pad hasn't worked for a few weeks so I use a wireless mouse, and there's a weird space between the screen and frame because it's missing the metal supports inside (I got rid of em thinking the first new screen would come with them). Some things on the inside are bent outta shape but I'll leave em alone since it works fine. There's been times where I dropped it and it turns off or freezes up, but when I restart it it's fine. The lid is slightly bent, and the bottom part (the plastic casing that comes off) has tons of pitting and scratches around the edges because I use a big knife to pry it open whenever I open it up. I've replaced both screens myself, and the first time I did, I forgot to disconnect the battery, throwing sparks when I tried reconnecting the old screen (which was already broken, and after that was more broken). It still runs all my games amazingly (mostly physics sims like Flyout, Simple Rockets 2, From the Depths, etc. I also have beamng (lower graphics settings) and war thunder. I've had it for 2 years and it's still going strong. I plan on keeping it for a year or two more. I could afford a new one but I'll probably wait till this croaks. I will always buy Lenovo. TL;DR Abused and tortured laptop has lasted two years ... show more

  • Great Laptop
I have built my own computers since 1999. I know what I want in them and how much it's gonna cost me. I never buy the latest stuff, I keep it about a year old and has served me well. But this time after a friend's advice I dove into the gamin laptop and am very pleased. No it's not the legion 7 but it's new and has what I need. Quick fire up, minimal bloat software, slapped in another 1 TB drive, created my local account, updated everything, loaded MW and I was off to the races. Great machine. I will be getting the 80 watt battery to give it the power boost it needs to really open it up. Very happy. We'll worth it and highly recommend. 8/23 Quick update. This laptop is great. I have the HDR setting turned on with no issues. 4k will only run at 60 fps but the picture is outstanding and doesn't really task the processor or vid card. I recommend the RAM upgrade. It comes with 16 gig of ddr4 and is actually the sweet spot for most everything but boosting to 32 gig of ddr4 really gives it a lot more breathing room to perform. I would get a stand or something for airflow. I love AMD but they are a hot runner compared to Intel. But this thing does have an awesome cooling system as long as you've got the bottom vents unobstructed. Heat is the enemy. Windows 11 is actually a very good OS. I found a cheap metal stand that works perfect. I work in Engineering IT and have delt with every os since win 95 so seen the good and the bad. Just my 2 cents and hope it helps some folks ... show more

  • Great refurbished product
The exterior condition of the Thinkpad is very good, clean and scratch-less. The machine booted up flawlessly into Windows 10. The battery appears to be good. The website description states the battery will have 80% of its original capacity, my system showed that it is at 78.9% of its original rating. I bought this laptop to run Linux on. I swapped out the SSD with one I already had so if I had to return the Laptop, I could put the original SSD back in. I was very pleased that Linux Mint installed without any problems, WIFI worked right away and all the Linux programs appeared to function. My only complaint, a minor one, but could be major for someone, is that the refurbisher did not update the UEFI/BIOS, i.e., the firmware of the machine. Fortunately a little research at Lenovo’s website and afterwards searching on the web I found easy instructions to update the firmware through the Linux terminal. So in sum if you want a Windows Laptop I think it would be great. If yprefer Linux this laptop is a very good choice. I am very satisfied with the product except that about a week after receiving it the price was reduced. ... show more

  • Sturdy, ports galore, specs are great, perfect sessions
This laptop was $1,200 or so when I got it. Unbelievable it's half that now. Still, this thing still works on a dime and is more powerful than I expected! Want to do some video editing? It can do it, and we'll! Want to play some Baldurs Gate 3? Yeah. It can do that, ultra settings too - just have some good air flow. Want a several applications on at once and don't want your screen to freeze? Yup. Smooth. The specs are top tier for its day and on a budget for a gaming laptop, this'll do. I'd like to upgrade eventually, but I'm very happy with this machine! The charger is a bit heavy though, keep that in mind if you want to do some travelling or get a couple cords so you can have a couple stationary areas you can work. Did I mention how many ports it has? ... show more

  • Great little laptop for a super price!
I am so happy that I bought this computer, I got the T470 ThinkPad. I just need a strong laptop that will work when I need it to for some occasional work and YouTube videos, nothing fancy. This is perfect, the screen is clear, and the start-up is fast. It is lightweight, and the battery lasts for a long time. I read that some ThinkPad laptops have lasted for 10+ years with no problem. The T470 has lots of connection ports, so I am happy with that. Also, mine does not have a touch screen, that is why I gave a one star for touch screen. I wanted to give 5 stars for everything. The screen is only 14", but I can always hook up a monitor to it, if need be. I waited a few weeks before writing this review to give myself time to try it out, and I am really happy with my purchase. I had a cheap HP laptop that I bought brand new and the body cracked, and it broke in half. Perhaps the larger the screen size, the more flimsy the body of the laptop will be. IDK. I read that these ThinkPads are built strong for business use, so I am hoping this will last. But, I opted to buy the 4-year warranty along with the laptop. Small price to pay for peace of mind. Especially since this is such a great price to begin with. I read a lot of reviews before I bought this model, and before I chose a seller to buy from. Do your research, it can make a difference what seller you buy from. Some give a one-year warranty for free with the purchase. Mine came in perfect condition and looked brand new. I bought from Recharge PC and I would recommend them. ... show more

  • Very good Thinkpad for a "Linux Box"
This thinkpad came in (from RefurbConnect) in a surprisingly good quality. Only very (and I mean very) minimal scuffing but upon inspection there wasn't any visual evidence that it has been dropped and it was cleaned too. Inspecting the internals of the laptop, I did see that they've cleaned that as well. Given that this is a Thinkpad, all of the internal components: RAM, SSD, WIFI Controller, Internal Battery, are really easy to get. Heck, the CPU fan and heatsink can be removed with 4 screws, that bears repeating... FOUR SCREWS!!! and you don't even have to remove the motherboard to get to ANY of the internal components I described earlier. I did replace the old crusty CPU thermal paste, but that's really all that I needed to do with the laptop. Seriously... If anyone asks you what is the CHEAPEST but functional laptop to buy in 2022 I would definitely say a USED T-series Thinkpad (t470 or t480) is definitely the way to go! Anyway, running Linux on this laptop is a dream. If you normies don't know what Linux is, just go on YouTube and look up channels like "The Linux Experiment", "EF - Linux Made Simple", and "DistroTube". Unless you HAVE to use software that can ONLY run on Windows 10, if the most that you're using the laptop for is simply as a "bootloader" to your internet browser to "consume content" I'd definitely give Linux a shot on this laptop. Personally, I'd recommend installing Linux Mint Debian Edition 5 (LMDE 5) on the laptop since it's Desktop Environment is pretty close to a classic Windows 10 desktop environment most of ya'll normies are familiar with. LMDE5 runs like a clock on this laptop; wifi, bluetooth and even the fingerprint reader works out of the box. It runs Windows 10 good too, but I personally will use this laptop as a "Linux Box". Hope this review helps. ... show more
