  • Gift for a friend.
My buddy’s laptop went on him and due to health issues a computer is his lifeline to the world. Looked for something reasonable that was in a certain price range. He liked the sound of it (couldn’t look for himself no computer). Got word from him that it is faster than previous laptops different manufacturers. Overall happy with the computer but not happy with the new Windows. The laptop is a great choice. ... show more

  • Respect yourself and don’t do it
This was the biggest tech mistake I’ve ever made. Barely 10 months into having this computer, I opened the screen as usual and heard a loud popping sound. Lo and behold, the whole right corner of the computer popped apart, just shredded itself delaminating the hinge/screen connection. I’ve never seen anything like it. Visual Inspection revealed that the internal hardware had simply come apart. No worries, i thought, it’s in warranty. Called the company, got loads of reassurance and instructions to take to the Geek Squad so they could fix it under warranty. What a joke- GS informed me that it was a flat rate of almost 90$ to even send it out to repair, not counting the parts and labor which would run me essentially what i paid for this piece of garbage new. I was informed that because there was physical damage, there was no manufacturers warranty coverage. I cannot express how clearly this is defective material- dropping the computer wouldn’t have done this, a drop with the force to ruin the hardware like this would shattered the screen or had some visible sign of cracking/scratching. None exist. So not only did Lenovo lie in their customer service phone call with me, they are also misleading in their assertion of a 1-year warranty. Now, I was willing to put up with some quirks on this computer because it was on the lower price end. No more. Not if this is how they’re running things- so, should you decide to risk the appallingly cheap parts and assembly and the cruel joke of a warranty, know this, too: The processing speed is appalling with more than 3 tabs open, to the point that the screen freezes and refreshes itself if you hop between tabs too quickly. I’ve never used a slower, clunkier computer. The display is really hard on the eyes, with distorted colors, garish tones and strange brightness at times. It also FEELS cheap-seriously. Everything about it is sketchy from the hinge (obviously in my case) to the keyboard. Again, this is a cheap computer so i wasn’t super surprised. You should know what you’re getting though- you won’t get more than a year out of it, you’ll hate it the whole time, and you’ll wish you’d just bought whatever was twice as much but felt and functioned like a real computer. I am disgusted by Lenovo and will never buy them again. ... show more

  • Awesome purchase price
Love the price for the storage space and the brand is well known for quality laptops for business. It is a plus that the graphics for games on this computer. I didn't like that it was supposed to come with a McAfee subscription that only lasted 10 days before prompting me to upgrade and pay for the subscription. The Windows options are perfect. I'm an non traditional college student (50s) and this laptop is light enough to put in my bag without the additional weight of "old" standard models. Very easy to set up and get going. Was very impressed. ... show more

  • Decent for the price
Haven't tried Lenovo for decades, and what they are able to provide in a laptop is reasonable. With some exceptional features. HDD and RAM for the price. After nearly 2 years of use however, the screen is starting to separate from itself with the right hinge starting to pop out. I have resorted to leaving it open and not bringing it as much, while shopping for a replacement. Another Lenovo? Possibly. ... show more

  • Cheap crap
This is the cheapest piece of crap I have ever bought. When initially purchased, Lenovo sent out a survey and I let them know some of my thoughts on the processing power and speed, but since then, it’s actually gotten worse in new and different ways. Initially I told them it was slow and easily exhausted even by basic internet searches. I could barely do video calls from it, while my other machines on the same internet at the same time could handle basic modern necessities. I use it for freelance work that I do, separate from my day job laptop (Dell), and personal/family desktop (iBUYPOWER). The others far outperformed. No response to that feedback. As to the ways it has gotten worse… I prefer to keep my freelance work off my company machine, so in the rare occasions when I need to travel, I bring both. They travel in the same bag and are cared for and protected in the same way. I’m not rough on them at all. Within a couple months, the plastic frame around the monitor started to peel away from the screen. It was annoying, but I was afraid to use any glue or substance to reseal it. It started peeling more drastically a month later and it turns out, that is all that was holding the screen together. The hinge for the laptop to fold sat just inside that, not affixed to anything, and when the cheap plastic was no longer glued on top, neither was the hinge! So any time you would open or shut the machine, it would horribly crack apart. I just stopped bringing it with me, since I could no longer open and close it. I wound up driving it back from one trip so I could keep it open in order to bring it home for repair. Not exactly the point of a laptop. When I contacted Lenovo support, they said it was under warranty, but they wouldn't cover physical issues. For me to ship it to them and back, even before charges for repair work, was $150. When all was said and done, it would have been cheaper to replace the device, which I'm sure is what they're counting on. ... show more
