These pillows are accurate to description however I have not poured water on them to test how waterproof. They sit on my outdoor bench on the covered porch. I needed a pillow that would resist mildew and hold up to the elements. The cover is a thicker than average polyester material so it seems like it will do better than the average house pillow. It came vacuum packed; I fluffed them up by hand then put in the dryer on the warm air setting and they fluffed up nicely. I cover them with 18” x 18” covers and it is a perfect fit. I tried 3 or 4 different pillows when looking for replacements for my outdoor patio set and these are by far the best quality I found. They have a waterproof-looking cover with a zipper. I did try both the 20x20” and the 22x22” inserts for my 20x20” covers, and kept the 22” as pictured. The 20” was fine, but the 22” looked way better and actually offers a bit of support rather than just appearance. I would have been reasonably happy with either, but my husband preferred the greater cushioning. ... show more

These pillow inserts are on the firm side, which is what I wanted. I bought them to fill outdoor pillows that are used as lumbar supports as well as being decorative. They do the trick. The size is also good. In the past, for square pillows, I have bought an insert that is slightly larger than the case it is going to fill, to ensure sufficient plumpness and firmness.
