I had plans to build a ramp because it's getting harder and harder to get my wife's wheelchair up/down the 5" step at the front door. This ramp is a MUCH better solution. I can use it to get the chair out of the house, put it the back of the van in case I need it at our destination, and then use it again to get the chair back into the house. This ramp seems to be sturdy enough for what we need. Just be aware that it is heavy enough that two people are needed to maneuver it and set it up, unless you are strong.

Needed this for my mother who was in a wheelchair. I needed it to go down 3 steps off my deck. It’s kinda tricky actually. It’s so long that it feels a bit wobbly at times, although I wouldn’t call it unsafe. And while it is technically portable, it is also VERY heavy and clunky to fold, unfold, and transport. So just know that, I mean it’s expensive so when you’re in need like I was with my mother’s health situation, you’ll live with it. But just know it took me and my husband together struggling. On the other hand, I bet I’ll have this forever and it can be used for various uses. ... show more

Although to ramp was shown with one person carrying it with one handle, the packaging when it arrived was clearly marked to be lifted by two people. The ramp is made rather sturdy and therefore is heavier than some competitors models, it is rated for a higher weight capacity that most other brands of the same length. The only thing I would suggest is to make a wooden support for the center when using for a steeper grade, when using at a steeper grade to ramp tends to have a bounce if not given added support. ... show more

My 95 year old father has three small fractures in his foot. He will need to be in a wheelchair while healing. This ramp came today, went up in minutes, and is just what is needed to get him in and out of the house. When no longer needed it can be stored until needed again. It does have some give in the middle but is very sturdy. If I don't like the give I could place a couple cinder blocks under for support. ... show more

If I walk up the ramp there is a lot of bend in the ramp. I got this ramp to get a wheel chair up a 1 to 2 inch step and not sure how safe I feel on it.

I bought this ramp to be able to easily move my wife in her wheelchair from our family room to the surrounding deck. The deck is 7" below the room, so I bought the 3' model. It's very well made and sturdy. It flexes a little bit when I walk on it, but that's to be expected and is not a problem. To not flex it would have to be so heavy I wouldn't be able to lift it. Because my doorway includes a storm door I had to install the ramp a little different from normal. One end of the ramp is considered the top; the other end is the bottom. There are only two difference between the two ends. The top has some holes to aid when it's folded. And the top also has some non-skid material to keep it from - yes - skidding off the door threshold. But I had to install it with the top end down. And I screwed it to the deck to prevent it from slipping. It works great. I suppose I could have rated it lower, but in my experience any general purpose product might have to be modified a little to work properly in the real world. So I'm happy with it. ... show more
