Description

The Leica V-LUX (type 114) digital camera is an advanced point-and-shoot digital camera with the form factor of a DSLR. It has a 20MP, 1" Mos sensor, a 16x zoom lens, and UHD 4K video capability. The built-in, DC VARIO-ELMARIT, 9.1-146Mm f/2.8-4.0 ASPH lens has a 35mm equivalent focal length of 25-400mm. Optical image stabilization helps minimize the appearance of camera shake, resulting in sharper images, and 4x digital zoom and 32x intelligent zoom provide the lens with an extended focal range. The moderately fast aperture, combined with a native sensitivity range of ISO 120-12500 allow the lens to perform in situations with low light. The V-LUX captures high-quality MP4 Video files in resolutions up to 3840 x 2160 UHD 4K, and a built-in microphone can record stereo audio while recording video. A 3", 920K-dot, rotatable, LCD screen on the camera enables photo review and menu navigation, and a 0.39", OLED, 2, 360k-dot, electronic viewfinder allows for accurate composition. Built-in Wi-Fi and NFC allow for instant image sharing and remote control via the image Shuttle app.

A Glorified Panasonic
Hilarious. This is the identical camera as the Panasonic FZ1000 II but people are paying 6 hundred over that one for this red LEICA badge. What a joke.

BASED on my V-LUX 3!
This MAY be useful. I shot extensively with Lumix/Lumix Lens, Lumix/Leica Lens, and red dot Leica V-3. This Type 114 looks pretty similar to my V-Lux 3. I HOPE it is. My V-Lux 3 says "made in Japan" on the bottom. So, with all of that context, here's what I've learned. The Lumix/Leica takes much better pictures than the Lumix/Lumix. My red dot Leica V-Lux 3 is truly astonishing, taking better pictures than these, AND I believe better picture than my MOST FUN P-1000 Nikon. I am quite happy with the P-1000 pictures, not thrilled w/ the Lumix/Lumix, but not bad, satisfied+ w/ the Lumix Leica, love playing with the P-1000 Nikon, and it give GOOD pictures, or better. I'm buying my sister a present. She's been shooting with Lumix over the years, in that same crossover size, non-ingterchangeable, etc, for many years. This will be about the same size, and will give her noticeably better pictures. sharper, wonderful colors, etc. The others did well with colors, and I have not particularly noticed better colors with the Red Dot. I have not looked critically for that either. The better resolution/sharpness/everything which is so important when taking say bird pictures, is simply far superior to my eye. TIP: buy "rolls" of HIGH speed film. The write time to the chip does matter. Size matters less. Personally I do not reuse them. Once I have 5000 pictures on a chip, it belongs in a safe, not re-formatted and re-used. The dollars saved are insignificant, and the drives I save to are I think less reliable over years than just keeping the origianl chip, write protect turned on, in a safe place. I treat the "roll" as a roll of exposed negatives. Why would I shred the negatives just because I've printed some of them? I don't anymore. The higher write-to speed is important for many reasons. Trust me. Have fun and takes lots of pictures!!! ... show more
