My nine-year-old had a blast assembling this Lego set and needed no adult assistance for the few hours it took (yay)! The two characters are cute, and the set has lots of space for other characters to be part of the imaginative play. The only "downside" was that this set did not come with a hard copy of the instruction manual like usual. Instead, there's a code you scan to get an online version, which allows you to pivot and rotate each graphic. Awesome set that I got for my daughter. I put this one together while she assembled Rambi and the Dixie Kong kit. Rambi is in the picture but isn’t part of this set. Anyway, the kit makes sense, it’s cool. Lego quality, instructions are via app which is awesome.

    • Great set aesthetically, but no printed instructions
While the set it good aesthetically, it has the below negative aspects: 1 - Written instructions are not included. You must install and use Lego Super Mario app to access instructions and follow them on screen. The environment-savers win in this aspect, but it ultimately removes some enjoyment and ease for the builder, and it could delay building it until screen access is available. 2 - Beware that a child may be disappointed if you do not also have/purchase the Starter Set, as this is an expansion kit. I thought the set was adequate on its own, as it is quite good and large, but boy was I wrong about that. ... show more
