Peach isn't always everyone's first go-to in the mario series, but she's welcome here. This new version of her starter set features Lakitu, the floating cloud guy, as well as a lava character and a yellow toad for rescuing. It feels a bit smaller than her first set, but still a nice place to start, nonetheless. The included interactive Peach appears to be identical to before, with eyes and a stomach area that display reactions to scanning special lego tiles or colors in the set and beyond. Like Mario and Luigi, her interactions are fun but not that deep. Most of the play to be had will be more of interest to younger builders and buying more sets will allow them to extend the play further (basically creating simple levels with all kinds of brick-built characters to interact with) For older builders, these sets don't offer as much, but the resulting enemy builds can create fun desk pieces to collect or display. Worth noting is that Peach (like the Mario and Luigi interactive characters) have their screen portions go dark when not in use/turned on. This makes them a bit creepy looking, but it's no biggie, just not as good for display.

Everyone knows that Peach is the coolest player in Mario, so it is awesome to have her available for Lego Mario. If you already have Mario and/or Luigi she can pair with them for multi player games (2 player, or glitched 3 player) and connect to the phone. As usual, LEGO delivers a superior build experience. The pieces are the highest quality and fit together perfectly. The instructions and division of bags allow the build to be satisfying and enjoyable with just the right amount of detail and steps explained clearly. There are online instructions as well, but it uses the same app that Peach connects to for updating or playing, so my little helpers were commandeering the app and completed parts while the build progressed. The interactive elements in this are pretty cool, from the technology and barcodes to the physical moving parts and chances for imaginative play. It is kind of fun to have a Lakitu that can grab other characters and the moving parts for Toad's "prison" are cool. Here are the barcodes for this set: Lakitu (defeat it) star block (power up) Cloud (you get points for riding on it) Fire ball (defeat it) Start pipe End goal Peach (and Mario and Luigi) will respond to the barcodes as well as the color of the ground. While the barcodes are only in official sets, the colors are more general so you can put Peach on the floor, your lap, couch, other bricks etc and have her think she is on lava, grass, water or whatever the color corresponds to. Peach's skirt is removable and can be changed for other things, including Mario or Luigi's costumes, and they can wear her dress. Of the three characters, I would say Peach looks the strangest as a rectangular Lego character, and looks even stranger in overalls (and her skirt isn't flattering on Mario or Luigi!). Playing with these has an element of playing the Nintendo game, but also utilizes a lot of imagination since "cheating" is a lot easier when you can just lift the player up to wherever you want rather than being limited by the actual game physics. It is a great opportunity for fans of the Mario games to use creativity and imagination in creating their own levels and stories.

This lego set is adorable! I know the focus of it is supposed to be how cool Princess Peach is, but my husabnd, son, and I all love the extra characters and the Mario themed blocks. I grew up playing Super Mario World with my parents, so it is a real TREAT that I get to play with legos that are themed after Mario with my five year old son. He loves it! Oddly enough his favorite characters are the toads. lol I love seeing and building Lakitu!!! Man this set is taking me back. All in all this is a great set for nostalgia for parents and really geared as a play set for kids.

A fun take on an old classic, this playset combines all of the feel of a Mario game with the fun and imaginative world of LEGO. And while we are a VERY enthusiastic LEGO family this wasn't a hit. The instructions are easy to follow (at least for the assembly, we haven't had time to set up the computerized portions. They look easy to follow and might even be able to be done on a phone.) This is a more expensive set than normal for the piece count. The set would make a great gift for a Mario/Princess Peach fan. There are NO stickers to this set so that's a HUGE plus. And as always, these parts are compatible with most major brands of building bricks :) But this set fails to be a hit with LEGO fans who want a buildable playset (the kids) and misses the mark as blend of tech game and building for the adults (wife and myself). Overall, I would NOT recommend this unless you are or know a HUGE Mario/Princess Peach fan. The cost puts it out of the younger builders price range and the simplistic design and the lack of fully committing to the tech makes the adult market who might be willing to pay for it, not interested. However, all that said, if you have a HUGE Mario/Princess Peach fan this could still be a great gift. Happy Building :)

My little ones have quite a large collection of Mario Lego sets. This is a great addition to that. It includes lots of characters and all the colors are bright and festive. We are really loving these interactive Mario characters that Lego has released. This is a fun, interactive set that can be set up to serve as an obstacle course for the characters. It is a really cool set for gamers or fans of the cartoons and movies. The pieces are all perfect with no flaws at all, and they snap together tightly, so my little ones can play with it without worrying about things falling apart and having to constantly rebuild the set.
