Our daughter loves Harry Potter. This train set was a no brainer for a Christmas Gift. One of the things we like about LEGO sets with a little one is it teaches them the importance of following directions when you are trying to assemble something correctly. It also helps to develop eye hand coordination. Our daughter was 5-1/2 when she go this and was able to assemble it without much intervention from us. We have one rule with LEGO sets. You have to build it according to the instructions first, then after the first build, you can tear it apart and build whatever you want. Fantastic alternative to the larger, way more expensive, Hogworts Express. Lots of cool details. Instructions are very easy to follow. It was a great build and looks awesome on my bookshelf with the Harry Potter books.

Just got this in the mail and am already bummed. The box has this really huge crease through the middle of the back of the box and on top. Almost looks like the box was folded in half at one point? Most people know that even on Legos, the condition of the box is important. Especially when you spend 70.00 on the item. Plus it has a bunch of stickers on it including a yellow one. I’m hoping it’s not used. I’ll have to find out Didn’t find out. Anyway, having the original Hogwarts Express and this one, I like the looks of this one. I’m a mom also who loves Legos! It was fun to put together, however it took me about two hours to put it together. I truly need to find a LEGO set that is actually a challenge. When I get the money, I’m going to get the huge Hogwarts castle. I really do love this train. It looks good. It doesn’t have much room on the passenger train for the characters. I don’t have time for a long review, but it was very enjoyable and a very nice looking train. I would get it while it’s still at a good price!!! ... show more
