Description

From the Manufacturer Expand your very own wizarding world of Harry Potter™! No need to pass through the Leaky Cauldron. Now even Muggles can shop in Diagon Alley by building this fantastically magical set that includes 3 extensively detailed buildings and 11 minifigures! Join Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger as they shop for their Hogwarts™ school supplies. Visit Ollivander's, Borgin and Burke's, and Gringott's Bank. Each Diagon Alley building is realistically detailed. Ollivander's offers an extensive selection of wands, storage shelves and a step ladder that allows Ollivander to gather wands from the top floor. The front desk has an "exploding" function for those inconvenient times when a spell goes awry. Borgin and Burke's includes a scary skeleton, "glow-in-the-dark" elements, a fireplace attached to the Floo Network and a Vanishing Cabinet that Dark wizards might use to sneak into Hogwarts. Gringott's Bank is an impressive two-story building with large double doors, and can be opened completely into one large building or closed to create one smaller building. The bank's interior features a removable vault, along with the Philosopher's Stone, a clerk's desk, a chandelier and 'wonky' support pillars. Includes 11 minifigures: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, each with magic wand; Rubeus Hagrid, equipped with his pink umbrella; Fred and George Weasley; 2 Gringott's goblins; Mr. Ollivander; Lucius Malfoy (with Death Eater disguise); Fenrir Greyback; and 4 new, decorated owls.

  • Amazing detail, well made, lots to do and discover - a winner for years to come
My mom said you can never go wrong with Lego and as parent I agree!! We purchased this for my daughters birthday and quite frankly were amazed at the detail, quality and value of this set! Now do not get me wrong - there is work involved in this, lots of it!! But I like the fact that it is a great project, is great for a team effort, keeps the kids engaged and everyone knows that hard work will be worth the end result! As for that end result - well you get three amazing and intricate buildings that allow kids to let their imaginations run wild as they play out the Harry Potter scenes: Gringott's Bank - this can be used two ways, as a small building or you can actually open the building up to both show the detail and allow more playability for kids. Then we have Borgin and Burke's - the fun here is the glow in the dark feature, which our kids really loved especially as my daughter kept this set up in her room. The finally, in terms of buildings there is Ollivander's where there is even the effect of an explosion to be had!! Trust me, lego spared neither attention to detail or the extra effects on this one! For me, I was also happy that this set included lots of mini figures, 11 to be exact, which was great as the lack of figures has maybe been the only downfall in some of the other sets from this series! The instructions were comprehensive and easy to follow though the construction was somewhat challenging at times. As busy parents we simply broke up the project over several evenings which is a great suggestion if the kids can wait as it allows you to focus! These pieces are well sized and highly detailed, but this was such as excellent feature as it brought the movie and book to life! One note - sometimes the black bricks look gray in the instructions - there is very little use of gray so if in doubt, its probably black you should be looking for. There is so much playability in this and once complete it is pretty sturdy! My kids have enjoyed endless hours playing Harry Potter and as a parent this is this thing I love most about Lego - besides the quality, this toy allows imaginations to run wild and that TV remote, thankfully, does not come into play for some time! ... show more

  • A Must-Have For Any Lego Harry Potter Collector!
This is a truly gorgeous set. I purchased this for my husband for his first Father's Day, and we have had so much fun putting it together. The set is a bit expensive, but it is essentially three buildings in one, plus a few small stands (cauldron stand, an owl stand, and a hat stand). The details in this set are incredible; Potter fans will be excited to see how much care was put into the design. For example, there are small copies of the Quibbler, the Daily Prophet, and the Marauder's Map for the characters to carry, and there's a wanted poster of Sirius Black for the side of Ollivander's. It's actually a great value for the number of items that are included, and it's challenging enough to take a couple of days to build. First, there's Ollivander's Wand Shop. This is a two-story building in green, tan, blue, and black. The window design is incredibly well done. Inside, you've got some wand shelves, a desk for Ollivander, a ladder to get to the second floor, and a few other surprises. Both the inside and outside are well detailed. Second is Borgin and Burke's, a set in gray, black, and green. Despite the fact that this building is actually in Knockturn Alley and not Diagon Alley, I'm really glad it was included in the set. The building contains a number of surprises, not the least of which is an actual vanishing cabinet and a Floo entrance that spins. The attention to detail is remarkable. That being said, I would have liked to have seen a few more "dark objects" to scatter about the store--maybe a hand display or the silver and opal necklace, for instance. Third is my personal favorite piece, Gringott's. It's a beautiful white and gold building. It includes a desk and a vault, as well as numerous little touches that make it seem like a bank. It also folds, which is pretty neat. Minifigures include Harry, Ron (in a cute little sweater), Hermione, Fred and George Weasley, Mr. Ollivander, two Goblins, Hagrid, Lucius Malfoy, and Fenrir Greyback. Overall, I think Lego outdid itself with this set. ... show more
