I have just gotten into Lego building within the last couple years (I am now a few days away from 40 m y/o). I had never attempted such a large project and worried that since I do have Tremors, plus the largest set I built was in the 300 piece range. Thankfully, I had nothing to worry about. Each bag had clear instructions to follow and only a few errors due to brain glitches occurred. It did take quite a long time to build; I would say each bag took around 4 to 5 hours . With 8 bags total, plus an extra 2 hours added for dealing with the stickers and when I got confused by the directions, it means a total of aat least 34 to 42 hours was spent on the project. I am sure others could do this faster, but the age range of 10 and up is definitely right. The book looks turned out amazingl I love that you open the doors of the seating to see not only the seating,, bht various candy. I highly recommend this for Harry Potter fans, especially 8f you are a book dragon. I don't know how well books would hold up,,but this seems incredibly sturdy and makes me believe ast least some books could be between them. ... show more

This is a beautiful Lego set and there are so many fun small details that make it really fun to put together. I, personally, love the cute little Hedwig! It's a really nice size for a bookshelf, and you can use it to hold up books or simply as a display piece. My son does a little of both. I would definitely recommend it and it is so unique in being a book nook. This feels more of a "put it together and display it" set as opposed to a "put it together and then pull it apart and build other things with the pieces" set, so that might be a consideration depending on who it's for. ... show more

Lego never disappoints! This is a great set and once completed it it actually serving a purpose. My grandson enjoys admiring his accomplishment not to mentiont the Harry Potte rtheme is a win with him. Great project and the resuting bookends are adorable.
