I bought it as gift for my grandsons, ages 10 and 8, who are expert Lego builders, and they are very happy with it. I thought this set might be too juvenile for someone who has built many Lego kits including large rockets, Technics vehicles, etc., but they said those kits were full of oddball specialized bricks that are designed to fit together into one specific object and aren't useful for creating their own designs. "I can't even build a wall" he said. Even the instruction sheet proved surprisingly useful. I thought the designs were rather crude (like 8-bit graphics from a 1980's computer) but I'm told they were fun to build and even taught the boys the principle of creating "inlayed" designs by deliberately varying the brick color. The cost is significantly lower than other Lego kits, but still seems excessive. However, I'm not prepared to buy no-name Chinese knockoffs... ... show more

Most of the colors and sizes you need to get going in the universe of Lego. Just the blocks, not the flats. Not all the primary colors, but you get enough variety where it won’t matter for a while. All bricks are perfectly engineered because it’s Lego…it’s why we buy Lego.

I saw a Lego influencer talk about this set and I immediately had to pick up a couple of these to help build up my inventory, especially what I would call "filler" brick that is super helpful when building your city and have to create elevations, etc. Not much else to say about these, except that this is probably the best Classic Set there is when you want to find some more utility bricks. Highly recommend and as I continue to build out my city, I'll likely pick up more. ... show more
