  • Fun and informative!
Format: Hardcover
We love this book! We saw it at the library and knew we had to buy one to have! Goes great with the space legos! Tons of building ideas and space facts!

  • A Great Addition to Your Child's Personal Library! Attention Grabbing!
Format: Hardcover
I cannot even begin to tell you what a very cool and unique book this is! What a way to learn about space! So, rather than dry facts and the standards photos, here is something much more playful and attention grabbing. And, don't get me wrong, we have piles of those "standard books" ... they serve a very needed purpose. But, how fun is it to see something like this! And, I need hardly state that I have repeatedly found the kids lost in this volume! Every page here is incredibly dynamic. The font is large, the word choice is age appropriate, and the information is truly thoughtful. And, I appreciate how everything is presented in small, easily explored "bites." There is an abundance of visuals on every page. These encourage exploration! What a great way to grab and hold attention. There are advanced facts (that just about any child can still understand) as well as gentle speculation (such as life on other planets). In all cases, these facts and visuals stimulate thought and provide an outstanding adjunct to standard school curriculum. Just a stunning, fun, thoughtful book! An excellent addition to your children's library! Highly recommended! ... show more

  • This is an Educational Book for Any Space or Lego Fan
Format: Hardcover
I ordered this hardcover book titled: LEGO Amazing Space: Fantastic Building Ideas and Facts About Our Amazing Universe (Dk Lego), because my grandson wants to be an astronaut and I was sure he would love this book. This book is full of space facts, illustrated with over 150 Lego models. It is really quite cleaver how it was written. It has all of the plants built with Legos, plus comets, space volcanoes, even the phases of the moon, created with Legos and so much more! It tells how humans landed on the moon. It talks about the Mars Rover. It even has Stonehenge made out of Legos. It has so many space facts that I didn’t know. It also has many short instructions for some of these things that you can build with Legos you might already have and has some small blurbs about space related Lego Sets. This book has a table of Contents at the front and there is a glossary of space related words in the back, as well as an index. This book is geared for ages 7-11 year olds, but it is for anyone wanting to know more about space, especially if they are a Lego fan. ... show more

  • Educational and Fun Book For Lego Fans
Format: Hardcover
My son has given up most of his toys but his Lego collection is sacred and he still asks for Lego kits for his birthday and Christmas. This book is awesome because it's educational and full of fun facts and short stories about outer space. Like the other Lego books we own the quality is excellent. A nice thick hardcover with glossy, highly illustrated pages that catch your attention and make you want to stop and read. There are a lot of pages dedicated to showing you how to use basic bricks and other pieces in your collection to make the space related pieces shown in the book. It reminds you to be creative with what you have. They also show lots of space related kits with the item number which is helpful if you want to purchase a particular kit. My son has two large tubs filled with thousands of Legos and this book has been a great guide to help spark his creativity and learn about the fascinating world of outer space at the same time. I think any child who's interested in space and Legos would love this book. Five stars! ... show more

  • Informative and inspiring, but build instructions are lacking
Format: Hardcover
I got this "Lego Amazing Space" book for my 9-year-old son who loves both space and Lego. He has always wondered how to make a sphere out of building blocks, and he was able to do it with this book. Unfortunately, he doesn't have all the right color pieces to make the planets as shown in the book, but he made up his own. The book has a lot of interesting information and is nicely illustrated with images of Lego builds and space related Lego sets. Some building instructions are included, but they are mostly for very small builds or parts of larger builds where the full instructions aren't given. These are not step-by-step instructions and take some figuring out. I like the Build Basics section at the end which prompts kids to be creative and to try to find solutions if they don't have the right pieces, which is always a problem we run into. I think this is a great book for learning about space and checking out some cool Lego creations. But, just be aware that it is more inspirational than a guide for building exact models. ... show more

  • A+ for this fun and educational book
Format: Hardcover
I am an avid collector of LEGO space sets. My first LEGO ever was the LEGO Town: Space Shuttle Launch (1682). As an adult, I have focused on collecting real space vehicle sets, like space shuttles, rockets, and satellites. The book is 100% perfect for my collection and anyone who enjoys space and LEGO. I love all the building ideas centered around our solar system. My favorite is the phases of the moon chapter. DK always does a great job with these books, but they really hit a home run with this one. It is pure book, so you don’t get any minifigs or pieces with it. This means it is filled with excellent content, not “filler packaging.” It is a great book to have in a classroom, too. I’ve enjoyed reading it and exploring all the quotes, fun facts, and jokes. My 4-year-old has loved looking through the pictures and seeing the different builds. For the price, you get a hardcover and well-bound book filled with colorful images and engaging content. It is a superb buy. ... show more
