  • The most important facts about the solar system in a kid's book
You will learn and retain more facts about the solar system from this little kid’s book than anything you learned in school or read out of an encyclopedia. You might even be better equipped to play Jeopardy! The book devotes a page or two to each planet with trivia about some unique characteristics of each one. Interestingly, Earth seems to be the blandest of the planets and if you were an alien, probably the last one you would want to visit. The fact that the author didn’t think to say that Earth is the only planet capable of supporting life was maybe a missed opportunity. The only other quibble I have is the presumptuousness of the statement, “You are on Earth right now.” How does he know for sure that you are on Earth? Maybe you’re in a plane high above the Earth. Or maybe you’re one of the lucky ones to get a ride on Blue Origins space craft or one of the other spaceships ferrying passengers away from Earth. Whether you’re on Earth or not, you are sure to learn at least a few things you never knew about the solar system from reading this book. ... show more

  • Brilliant books to support STEM learning for toddlers, older children (and parents and grandparents)
I loved The Solar System, which I tried first, after seeing an online interview with the author, who is a mother and an engineer! The first book was great, and so were Neural Networks, Artificial Intelligence, Supervised Machine Learning and Ocean Life. I am retired teacher of children aged 3-9 years - one who has never lost the love of learning and enjoys sharing my enthusiasm with children. These books are PERFECT additions to any classroom or home library, and the manner in which the author speaks with children (and everyone else) simply ENCOURAGES EXCITEMENT ABOUT EXPLORATION OF THE WORLD and what discoveries may lie ahead! I look forward to the book about Mars, and recommend all these small volumes wholeheartedly. Note: they are lightweight and easy for kids to handle independently. Also, the author created her own illustrations - which is an encouragement to all aspiring authors/illustrators out there. Dr. Dhoot has written a great series to inspire us all. Thanks, Dr. Dhoot!!! ... show more

  • Good introduction for toddlers
Dr. Dhoot explains the solar system and the universe in simple terms for toddlers. I liked the illustrations which show what she is explaining. I liked that there is a simple story line for the younger ones with more explanation for older toddlers. I learned the order of the planets past Mars. I also learned a little about what can be seen with the naked eye. On the next clear night or when out in the country, I plan on looking for the constellations named in the book. This is a really nice introduction to our solar system. ... show more

  • Great learning tool
I read this to my son at bed time, and he loves it! He's learning about his planets, and now he knows them by name. Will be buying more books!

  • Great book! Cover has issues
Great book! Love the content, my 4 and 2 year olds love it! Only reason it's not 5 stars is the cover almost immediately curled up, the very first day. I'm not sure what material other paperbacks are made out of but there is something different about this one.

  • Simply easy for the child to grasp scientific concepts! A fun way to learn..
I bought all three books for my 2 1/2 year old. He ABSOLUTELY LOVES THEM! The fun, colorful and realistic illustrations capture his attention and once we start to read he is easily able to identify the objects in the book. Our favorite is “The Solar System,“ my son will not go to sleep unless he has counted all the stars in the book. He will take my hand and walk over to the bookshelf, picking up the book he says: “count with me stars.” The BOOK, really helped my toddler broaden his perspective when he looks up at the "night sky." I believe that the collection is a great way to introduce these topics to our children, these topics will help them better understand the world of science and technology that they are growing up in. I love the collection can’t wait to see what the author publishes next! MUST HAVE BOOKS! ... show more

  • Solar Systems, Machines, AI, oh my!!
The illustrations in this book, and the others are absolutely stunning. Each kid that held the book was captivated. I highly recommend reading these books to your little ones. I plan on buying more for the little ones. I would love to see this in a hard back. The kids can easily rip the book and it does not feel durable. This in no way changes my mind on a 5 star rating. This book should be a must have for your kids collection. Amazing illustrations but it will enhance your kids knowledge in the process. I would love to see more in the future!! Thank you so much. PS I love the Solar System book the most and you should start there!! ... show more
