  • Great reeds, and they always play!
Size: Strength 2.00
These reeds are great. I have a couple for all of my saxes. The company will replace it if on your first try you get the wrong strength, which is great because they are expensive. Depending on your playing frequency, these reeds can last a year or more. The biggest plus is that you don't need to wet them or warm them up. THEY JUST PLAY! ALWAYS. Well worth the money. Most of my sax player friends use these now. ... show more

  • It's ready to play as soon as you put it on your mouthpiece
Size: Strength 2.00
This is a review of Legere Signature bari sax reed #2 strength. Legere tone quality remains constant for many hours of play. Cane reeds change after just a few hours. Legere reed costs roughly the same as a box of 5 cane reeds. But the Legere reed lasts longer with consistent sound, than a box of cane reeds. I play in a pit orchestra where I play clarinet and sax at different times. The reeds are all Legere. I don't have to worry about the clarinet reed drying out while I am playing sax. ... show more

  • *Very* close to real cane.
Size: Strength 2.00
I play this on a Theo Wanne Durga 8* for reference. It's maybe just a touch soft for my preference, but I think the next step up would be too hard, though, so I'm rolling with it. The sound I get it just a touch darker and the playing feel is a bit more resistant than real cane, but it's well worth the small trade off to have the reed play every time I pick it up regardless if it's been sitting around or not. Ideal for pit work or doubling in any situation if the bari sax isn't your main axe for that gig. I like these reeds a lot on the low woodwinds (bari sax, bass clarinet), but I can't seem to make the upper woodwinds sound as good without using a proper cane reed. Regardless, I'd recommend these to anyone who wants to try a synthetic reed. ... show more

  • The SIGNATURE series is great on my bari. Much improved over other versions.
Size: Strength 2.00
I have used synthetic reeds on my Selmer Bari for years. Generally I used Fibrecell and they are fine quality. All synthetics are a little different, just like a cane reed, and you need to find one that fits. So, I decided to switch to the NEW Signature series. It responds like cane, is a little less vibrant than the Fibrecell and BARI. It works great on my Berg. NOTE: these reeds run hard for me and I ordered a 2 (normally play a 3 or MH) and it was fine. Other variations of Legere have NOT worked for me but the SIGNATURE is a different animal. ... show more

  • Works well, from low register up to altissimo
Size: Strength 2.00
On the Vandoren Java scale I needed a 2.75. 2.5 was too soft, 3.0 is an order of magnitude harder (too hard). I needed a 2.75. I am tired of adjusting reeds and chasing reed strength. I found the 2.0 strength to be a great fit. Plays easily from low "A" up to fourth octave "F". No matter what anyone says - there is a tonal difference between synthetic and natural cane. It's less noticeable on the Bari than it is on my Tenor. However, I've decided to embrace it. I like knowing when I go to a gig - I can count on the Legere reed to play exactly the way I practiced - no surprises ... show more

  • These things have come a long way
Size: Strength 2.00
I used to play alto in jazz band back in college and thought these plastic reeds sucked at the time. Now I play bari in a brass band and tried this out and they have come a long long way. Because of my playing style I kept breaking reed on an aggressive bari mouthpiece so by default had to try the legere. I can say I wasn’t giving it to much hope but it plays so well i use it for gigs. Will say I usually play 2.5-3 and ordered as such but it was a little too stiff so I ordered a 2 and it was perfect. ... show more

  • Consistent and reliable
Size: Strength 2.00
Been using the signature series reeds for over five years. I like them just fine. still like to slap on a cane reed for the difference in tone, but cane sometimes requires too much fiddling around.
