  • Works well; not the best ergonomics; monocular, not binocular
Color: Black and White
First and foremost, this night vision device does work, and works very well, reliably: very good sensitivity, and it covers a good distance with the adjustable zoom. This device is called a “binocular” probably for resemblance of the shape. But this is not a *Bi*nocular by any stretch of imagination: bi- as a prefix means “double”, while this has a single optical path (yes, you heard me right), a single display, no eye piece and no sense of depth to the image. This is a monocular with a display and no eye-piece. This device uses reflected light, unlike heat-detector optical devices. This allows seeing everything, warm and alive or dead-cold, in total darkness: it is reflected light this is based upon, only that the infra-red light is outside the human’s eye range of perception. But the IR light source on this device starts to show its limits when increasing the distance, the image becomes blurry and grainy the farther you zoom. Also exhibits delays in rendering the image, even at 30 frames per second (at 1080p resolution). For higher resolutions, at 2k it renders at 20 frames per second, and at 4k at 10 frames per second, which make the image very perceptibly choppy on recording movies. For pictures, the level of illumination translates in grainy images under lower light / farther distance. When I supplement the internal light with an external one, the quality of the pictures and movies is dramatically improved, thus the sensor does have high resolution but it is forced to increase its sensitivity when the lighting is dim, thus the grainy images. The ergonomics on this device are far from good, in my opinion: first, there is a display screen, not an eye piece. Any respectable scope provides an eyepiece for very precise reasons: usable without inference from external light, and adjustable to accommodate less than perfect eyesight. The choice to not provide an eyepiece on this device is a big letdown for me, both because I need to scramble my glasses and because the screen illuminates my face in what is supposed to be total darkness – so much about watching wild life without disturbance. The brightness of the screen is adjustable in the menu, but even on the lowest it is too bright for real darkness. Weird enough, the screen is surrounded by an edge with a notch at the bottom, like it could accommodate the nose: a very convincingly deceiving screen shadow. I am also not enthusiastic about the controls on this unit: the rotary adjustments, all three of them (zoom, focus and IR light), have very little angular travel, feels like 90 degrees or such. As such, these adjustments are extremely sensitive, one minuscule change and things get out of focus. Makes it hard to use. The manual is well written and intelligible, short and to the point. This device comes with a solid, good quality neck strap / lanyard, a microSD card with a USB adapter, an USB cable, a good quality hard case, and carries a two years warranty. Without this level of attention to such details, my rating would be a solid 3 out of 5. I am bumping up my rating by one star specifically for the warranty length and for providing all of these small but essential extras. ... show more

  • IR Based Night Vision Camera… Works Well with Practice….
Color: Black and White
This an infrared based night vision device. You won’t see those green images like in the movies. These are on the more compact side compared to others. I like that these are rechargeable and I found that the batteries last fairly long for me. There is an included memory card so I didn’t have to hunt around the house for one. These come in a nice storage case to keep them clean and dust free. I did find that out of the box, these are not so easy to use. In daylight things are fine, but since I will be using these at night, it takes awhile to memorize where all the features and buttons are. With practice, things do get easier. The IR light works very well and depending on the light level that you use, images do become very clear. The zoom feature is nice. Optical zoom works well, but when using digital zoom things will get a little more grainy as they do in regular cameras. I found that this recorded pictures and videos well. The more you zoom in, you will find that images can get shaky as there is no image stabilization. You will need to stabilize this when using a super zoom. Although you can view things on the camera, I take the memory card out and view on a PC using a larger screen. This is a nice rather compact way to view things that happen in the night. The IR light works quite well and allows you to see far. These do, however, take practice so that you can effectively use them at night and know where all the features are. ... show more

  • Love the Night Vision
Color: Black and White
These are more than just night vision goggles, these are binoculars, and a camera all rolled into one. First, I'll start with the night vision. This feature is super cool. I've never used night vision before, other than through security cameras, so this was new to me. From my experience, it was easier for me to use them with a slight space between my face and the visor. I'm not sure if this is because of my vision, or what, however when I tried this the picture was so much clearer. The range is pretty good in my opinion. I was able to see the back side of our 5 acres at night. I propose would have been able to see farther with them if we didn't have the treeline blocking the view. This is really neat to use because I can watch our deer and fox from our back deck without them even knowing I'm there. Now for the binoculars. The daytime view through the binoculars are okay, but not the best that I've used. There are 2 different dials you can can use. 1 is for zooming in and out and the other is to focus. The zoom is decent, but not the most powerful, but it works. What's really neat about these goggles is the photo and video taking abilities. This is great to use to take pictures while you're bird watching, deer watching, or for other nature photos. There is even a playback mode so that you can review the images thar you've taken. The photos aren't as great as my professional camera, but it's perfect for taking on hikes, cruises, etc, instead of lugging camera equipment around. The set comes with everything you need to use it. It has an SD micro memory card, a strap for the binoculars, charging cord, instructions, cleaning wipe, and a nice case to carry it in. Overall, these binoculars are fun to use. My favorite features are the night vision and the ability to capture what you see in real time. While they might not be the most powerful binoculars, they make up for it in other ways. ... show more
