  • Botley 2.0: A Preschooler's Coding Adventure!
I recently purchased the Learning Resources Botley The Coding Robot 2.0 Activity Set for my 3.5-year-old son, and it has exceeded my expectations in every way! Despite the recommended age being 5+, Botley 2.0 has proven to be an incredibly engaging and age-appropriate introduction to the world of coding for my little one. The 78-piece set is thoughtfully designed, offering a variety of colorful pieces that capture his attention and imagination. The simplicity of Botley's coding commands makes it easy for my son to understand and enjoy. The interactive features, such as detecting objects and following lines, have not only entertained him for hours but have also subtly introduced him to foundational coding concepts. What I appreciate most is the adaptability of Botley 2.0. As a parent, I can customize the complexity of the activities to suit my son's developmental stage, ensuring a gradual and enjoyable learning experience. The robot's durability is commendable, handling the enthusiastic play of a preschooler with ease. The set comes with a detailed guide and activity book, providing valuable support for parents navigating the introduction of coding to their little ones. It's been a fantastic bonding experience for us. In conclusion, Learning Resources Botley The Coding Robot 2.0 Activity Set is a superb investment for parents looking to nurture early STEM skills in their preschoolers. It combines education and play seamlessly, fostering a love for learning in a fun and interactive way. Highly recommended for curious minds! ... show more

  • Cute and many to do with
78 item set include following. 40 x direction cards (each having two symbols printed in both sides) 12 x cubes (orange, blue, light blue 4 each) 8 x sticks (orange blue 4 each) 2 x flags 2 x stick holders (cone shape) 6 x large cards (one side black and white, other side printed in color) 4 x Botley hands (orange and blue 2 each) 2 x Botley face mount (orange and blue) 1 x Botley him self 1 x remote 2 x balls (poly sphere blue, light blue) 1 x large circular goal (polygon cut out from middle blue) 1 x sticker card This product very innovative because it provide many playing options. For example, cubes sticks work as building blocks. those are specifically designed for Botley traveling length. So if you make maze out of these items it fit for botley size and commands. One down size is botly turn angles are exactly 90 or 45. This lead for errors when programming. However, this is a slight issue and does not bother kids. Its a point where the developers should work on to make perfect. I straight away started using rechargeable batteries. Because single used of batteries is a problem for disposal. I keep 6 AAA batteries for botley where it use 3. My charger need 2 or 4 batteries for a charge. I am satisfied with the build quality and way the product presented. I hope it will last few years and my kid will take the bast use. This is not a normal play toy so I wonder whether it can be gifted or not. For a kid around 5, it needs some guidance to start on. Parents should have a idea on what they are dealing with and what are the long term benefits to get some motivation. ... show more

  • Updated review! Received a replacement for the defective one.
Updated review: I bought this on prime day and saved it for the start of our school year. It was defective, but Amazon made it right which I hugely appreciate. THANKS AMAZON! The replacement works flawlessly and was received quickly. I never heard back from the Learning Resources company, which sours me a little. We are typically pleased with the brand, but it’s unfortunate they don’t stand behind their products. This is a great concept, but it doesn’t work. We received a defective one that only makes sounds but no movement. Tried to contact Learning Resources directly but haven’t received a reply. What a waste of money. 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND. ... show more

  • Hit with the 4 year old and his cousins!
It can be frustrating when the kids don't understand how to work it, but Botley is a hit once they figure it out! We set up obstacle courses, and my 4-year-old son and I worked to get through the challenge together. Now that he understands how to use it, he will work on the course independently with varying success. This toy is screen-free and helps kids think through more complex ideas and instructions. I wonder why some adults say it's challenging for them to use. Maybe our child is high-achieving, but I would highly recommend for any kid 4+ (ours is four and a half and has been using Botley successfully for months). No reading is required to enjoy Botley - remind your kids to clear the instructions (press the trashcan button) each time, or else Botley will build on the code previously given to him. That's probably the only gem needed from the instruction manual. Otherwise, the arrows are self-explanatory, and the settings (Code/line/off) on Botley are too. (on "line," Botley will simply follow a black line on the ground rather than follow instructions from the remote). ... show more

  • Best Present
Got this for my friends' kid and apparently I won Christmas, it was his favorite present and he played with it more than anything else he got. The parents like how it works at various levels, starts easy and gets more advanced which they can help walk him through.

  • 5 year old love it!
This toy is adorable and our 5 year old LOVES it. Make sure your batteries are fully working. He will turn on and make noise but if your batteries are not new, he will not move and seem defective. If this happens, change his batteries.
