    • Great little unit for small batches
Liked: the price, the size, quiet running, easy to store, easy to clean, the easy dial heat control Disliked: no timer although advertised as having one (thus 4 stars), Manual does not inform the heat requirement for certain foods, nor does it explain when or the reason to adjust the distance between the trays. If you know what you're doing with dehydrating foods, and don't mind periodically checking on the process (no timer), you'll love it. Did you know that you have to pre-treat (soak in lemon for example) certain foods, so they don't brown during the process? Hmmm. Me neither. This is not a fault of the product...I'm just saying that you have to approach dehydration of foods after doing your own research. But even not knowing, my first batch was made with 1 pear, 2 apples and 2 oranges and they were delicious and easy to make. Even the slight discoloration of the apples and pears wasn't a turn off once we tasted them. The oranges weren't completely dried out, but they didn't last long enough for that to be a problem! It took 8 hours total and I ran the unit with the extra space between trays. If anyone knows how this will affect my electric bill, please reply. Thanks. Also, does anyone know why the Weight Watchers points go up with dried foods? E.g. one fresh apple is 0 points but a dehydrated apple is 3 points per half cup. I know the sugar content concentrates, but with nothing added, what's the difference? I figured 4 slices of the 8 slices I dried makes 1/2 cup. ... show more

The dehydrator works well and faster than others. That's great for me because the kids love the stuff it creates. There is only one complaint; the top takes to much finesse to close. If you touch it even lightly it falls off and you have to battle again. Wish there was a notch or lip that could lock the bottom to top. I would still recommend this ... show more

I found myself very pleased with how well it worked. I wanted to make beef jerky but didn't want to spend a lot on a big dehydrator incase this turned into a one time deal for me. It's a nice size, easy to clean and just what I was looking for. I've made about 4 sets of jerky now and they all turned out great!! I was able to fit about 1lb of Stir fry or fajita meat in at a time and it was done in about 3-4 hours. ... show more

    • A little loud and the temperature is off, but works
This food dehydrator is a fair bit louder than a cheap one I bought years ago (different brand). Noise level is on par with a common cheap microwave oven. I bought both for drying 3D printing filaments and this one is a good diameter for standard 1kg spools. We're currently using it for some experiments with petri dishes (snugly fits 4 per layer). It shouldn't work for this as the minimum temperature setting is 104F (which above the needed range), but it's running right at 92F according to our thermometers (tested multiple to be sure) so is working well for the experiment. I've not yet tested to see if this (-12F) error is consistent to the top of the scale as our experiment is ongoing. ... show more

I love the size it has five trays it heats up very nicely and I throw the trays in the dishwasher to clean them up

    • Does what I need it to do
It does a good job at dehydrating mushrooms, bananas, and kale. Haven’t tried anything else yet. It is easy to use, can be slightly noisy (but no louder than a fan or white noise machine). Got no bad smell or any issues so far.
