This is a nice machine- a great place for a beginner to start. It requires assembly before use, but don't worry, it's pretty simple. The parts are well identified (the hardware is in separate bags for each step), and all the tools are included. Instructions are pretty well written, and very well illustrated. It took me about 1 1/2 hours of VERY leisurely assembly time to get it up and running. I use lightburn- It's the BEST software out there by far for laser control. All of the testing and examples were done using it. First, I did material tests both for engraving and cutting. A lower power machine like this is going to do better with engraving than it does with cutting- Cuts in the thin plywood (2.2mm, 0.08") that was included with the machine took 2 passes at 80% power and 10mm/s. The cut test took about 4 minutes to complete (Compared to my Falcon 2, which takes 2min 19sec) I wanted to see what it would take to cut the slightly thicker plywood that is commonly used for laser work- 3mm (0.12"). This is more commonly available. It required one more pass to cut. Cuts were fairly clean. Next, I did an engraving test. The test took 39 minutes- On my Falcon 2 the same test takes 24 minutes, and on my big CO2 laser about 14 minutes. The machine has a pretty nice range of tones, which will be great for doing photos and similar work. The laser spot size on this machine is VERY small- 0.01mm- So you can get a lot of detail. The fish was done without any processing, and took about 6 minutes. I also tried a few other materials, and it did well with them. The dog tag took 45 seconds, and turned out pretty nice. These are a HUGE moneymaker for me at shows! The keychain was a really quick example to show what it does in pleather- Nice and dark, with crisp lines. So- If you're looking for an easy to use and very capable laser at a great price, this is certainly one to take a close look at. While it's not going to be great for heavy production, especially if it involves a lot of cutting, but it will make a great introduction to the world of lasers, and has potential to be a money maker for you as well!

As someone new to laser engraving, safety and ease of use were top concerns. The ACMER S2 nailed it. The included goggles and the thick, dark acrylic safety cover make me feel secure. I LOVE the safety features – it instantly stopped when my cat bumped the table (scary moment, but the laser handled it perfectly!), and the emergency stop button is reassuringly prominent. Assembly was genuinely simple, just plugging in a few cables. It works flawlessly with LightBurn on my Mac. The fact that it handles so many materials (I've tried leather, anodized aluminum, and cork so far) with such power and comes with lifetime support makes this an incredible value. A fantastic, worry-free machine!

I needed something stronger than my old 5W machine, and the ACMER S2 7W delivers BIG time on power. The specs don't lie – it cut through 5mm black acrylic cleanly on a single pass (something my old laser choked on) and handled 12mm paulownia wood like butter with two passes. The 7000mW laser head combined with the 48W system power makes a massive difference. It engraves fast too – hit 8000 mm/min on some plywood with great results. The claim that it outperforms sub-10W lasers is absolutely true. If you've been frustrated with weak cutting on other desktop lasers, upgrade to this beast!

I've used other diode lasers before, but the precision on this ACMER S2 is something else. That 0.08mm spot size is no joke! I engraved a very intricate family photo onto maple wood, and it captured every tiny detail perfectly – even subtle shading I didn't expect a diode laser to handle. The 0.01mm accuracy claims are real. Setup was surprisingly quick (under 15 mins), and the large 300x300mm bed let me do a whole project in one go. For anyone wanting photorealistic engraving or super fine designs, this 7W laser punches way above its weight. Worth every penny!
