  • Compact 3.5W LED Laser engraver/cutter – Beginner-Friendly with Cable Limitations
Color: 3500mW
The media could not be loaded. This mini LED-based laser cutter is a great compact alternative to larger CO₂ systems, especially if you don’t want to deal with cooling liquids and more complex maintenance. The laser module itself stays fairly cool to the touch on the exterior housing, and the overall unit came pre-assembled, making setup quick and straightforward. Connectivity is simple—just power and USB-C—and the included cable thoughtfully supports both USB-C and USB-A computer connections. Performance is respectable for a 3.5W diode system. Engraving speeds can be impressive, but there’s an inherent tradeoff between speed and depth. At full speed, engraving is lighter, and cutting thicker materials requires multiple passes. For example, 2.5mm plywood needed at least three passes at 200 mm/min for a reliable cut. Faster multi-pass attempts (e.g., 466 mm/min) got very close but didn’t consistently finish the cut. Surface etching works well at higher speeds, while deeper work benefits from staying below ~500 mm/min depending on material. Accuracy testing revealed occasional data transmission freezes when running at higher speeds, likely due to limited cable shielding. A full system reset resolved the issue, and lighter, high-speed etching afterward worked correctly. However, improved shielding on the cable would increase reliability, especially during long or complex jobs. Safety-wise, the built-in laser shielding helps reduce accidental scatter, but this is not a toy. Proper eye protection, with provided glasses helps, and ventilation are essential. For home use, running a fan and venting smoke is strongly recommended, and sticking to safer materials like untreated wood or paper is wise. Compatibility with LaserGRBL was seamless, making it approachable for beginners while still useful for more experienced users. Pros: * Compact LED laser design with no liquid cooling required * Pre-assembled and easy to set up * Simple power and USB-C connectivity * Includes USB-C and USB-A compatible cable * Exterior of laser module remains relatively cool * Good engraving speed for a 3.5W unit * Works flawlessly with LaserGRBL * Suitable for beginners and experienced users * Effective for surface etching and light cutting Cons: * USB cable could use better shielding (occasional data freezes) * Limited cutting depth; requires multiple passes for 2.5mm plywood * Built-in shielding is minimal—requires strict safety precautions * High speeds reduce engraving depth significantly Improvements: * Upgrade cable shielding for more stable high-speed data transfer * Offer optional enclosure or enhanced shielding solution * Provide clearer material/speed reference guidelines For first-time home users: Recommended to use your stove range hood as early ventilation assuming it exhausts outside. Keep to standard wood or laser-cutter approved ply and maybe papers/cardboard to start. Research materials and what gases they produce from being vaporized. • Great for beginners.
Color: 3500mW
I've been wanting to try a CNC router or laser engraver for a while now. The problem is there's a bit of money involved along with a fair amount of bench space. This little machine from Wizmaker solves both of those issues. The whole machine can be easily moved with one hand. It takes up minimal space and costs as much as a week's worth of fast food lunches. Setup was quick and easy. I had my first project engraved within about an hour of opening the box. I found the free software to be very basic with limited functionality, yet the simplicity was also a plus. This machine is compatible with higher end software that you can purchase separately. They also claim it can be connected to accessories like a roller attachment (for engraving cylindrical or round objects). I haven't tried that, and I couldn't find any Wizmaker accessories online, but it's likely a different brand roller could be used. Obviously a very inexpensive machine is going to have some limitations. The capacity is quite small at only 135x145mm, and the laser is only 3.5w. The gantry frame is made of plastic and isn't super rigid so you'll need a good flat surface to place it on. The cable management is not great, and the laser mounting hardware has some play in it. In fact the Z-axis is just a loosely fitting dovetail setup with a set-screw for locking the laser in position. It works okay, but there is certainly room for improvement. The USB-C to computer cable is quite short also. Overall I'd say the machine is a pretty good value though, considering the rather low price point. It came well-packaged, it works reasonably well, and it will allow me to explore the hobby of laser engraving without a huge investment. Recommended for anyone wanting to tinker around without spending much money. ... show more

  • Wife loves it, works well easy setup
Color: 3500mW
So my wife got this in I have a background in 3D printing but she has none and she is completely set this up herself with no help from me at all and successfully burn the whole lot of little coasters and things like that, she's found it to be easy most of the way assembly set up and using it even for her first adventure into this kind of thing. I can tell by looking at it it's made very well they wanted it to be something that people would not break and send back. It comes with some very beefy laser goggles that would protect you from about any kind of laser I did some research and appears that this just uses a very powerful blue laser so I think orange laser goggles would be fine as well. It's not very big at all as far as the footprint on the desktop less than a foot wide in about a foot long it's very quiet when it's running just soft homes from the stepper motor when it engages to send the head back and forth and maybe a little sizzle from the laser on the wood. Unlike my 3D printers this actually smells good when it's working I kind of like the smell of wood burning certainly better than plastic burning. This little thing works great she got it set up installed the software it comes with two different programs One is free and one has limited use unless you buy it, she had some little squares of wood she had picked up at a bin store the other day that she laid down in it and immediately started making little coasters with little pictures of different things the kids like on them. The free program works pretty good she couldn't get very high resolution out of it certain images would just produce blanks The other program she's had better luck with on higher resolutions although she's still trying to figure out how to do grayscale images. It's definitely a tool that requires some skill and some setup to get it working perfectly but just getting it working was very easy. I think they should probably stress the dangers more of using reflective materials and possibly even included some kind of light enclosure with it lasers can be very dangerous to eyesight but it does have a guard that protects it almost all the way down to the point of impact it would be pretty difficult for a reflection to get out and actually impact in someone's eye it would require some really specific angles. All in all really great product she's been having a blast with it And I'm looking forward to what she can do once she really gets it figured out. ... show more
