I highly highly recommend this product and seller. I purchased this grinder set over a year and a half ago and have used it pretty much every day since. One of the grinders had a small part break and I reached out about a replacement for just that part. Rather than ignoring me, saying it was past warranty, or sending me just the replacement part I requested, the seller actually sent me an entirely new set. Top notch product and customer service. The grinders look great, function as intended, and the service can't be beat. If you are on the fence, just buy it. Before these we had some of those mills with a narrow glass waist but they broke because the grinder part was only secured by brittle plastic and this plastic snapped. Sadly there is no information or image with these new ones on how the grinder is secured this time, but we have high expectations as overall they seem to be nicely engineered. With the previous pepper grinder there was always a need to keep the chamber full for weight and to shake the peppercorns into the mechanism every few seconds. Even then there was only a small amount of ground pepper for each rotation of the grinder. With this new one, however, the grinder loads without any juggling and as a consequence each turn of the grinder produces plenty of pepper. Be cautious if you too have got used to an inferior design as this one produces a lot of pepper for each rotation and it would be easy to make too much. There is of course a place to store any unused ground pepper but it's better just to learn how efficient this one is. We bought the taller versions of these mills because of our experience with the older cinched-waist mills needing a weight of pepper or salt to press into the grinder mechanism but now that we've seen how well this design loads itself the shorter units probably would have been perfectly adequate. Holding and using the mill is comfortable as it's just a cylinder without the waist. The material and finish used is pleasant in the hand with a subtle matt quality and a cool touch. Since it is pretty minimalist in design there was a concern that it might be possible to get confused about which was the top and which the bottom when putting these away in a dark cupboard where the printing may be hard to see, but it seems there is a very subtle curve on one side that makes it clear that it should not be stored on that end because it would cause a slight wobble. This is very subtle poka yoke design. On the other side it is flat and even recessed. This and other understated features mean that a partially sighted or blind person might be able to operate these salt and pepper mills without too much trouble. There is no difficulty in prising off the lid (base) on the chamber for the grounds and so far no problems with the lid becoming loose either. On the other end (the top) there is a slightly fatter disc that is just big enough to grip with the fingers and a small gap between this and the storage chamber for the unground salt or pepper. This gap is slightly bigger than the gap around the cap on the other end. This indicates that the fatter disc unscrews for loading the pepper corns (or salt crystals). It only takes a gentle, partial turn to smoothly unscrew the top. The designers could easily have made this flush with no gap but it appears that they deliberately left the gap as a hint to users that it unscrews there. Once open there is a funneling effect where a larger opening, almost as big as the disc, leads to a smaller hole which is about half the diameter and the size of the threaded part. This funnel leads to the unground contents that are being loaded into the chamber not getting hung-up.

I am happy with this salt and pepper grinder set, even though the price seems high. Pros: - Sleek, modern look and neutral, matte colors. - The size of the spice canister is perfect, not too big and not too small. I use them every day and don't have to refill too often. Overall, they are high but that's what gives the set an elevated look. Cons - Wet/dirty hands will leave marks. It doesn't bother me. I just wipe them down with a damp cloth when I am done cooking. - The end caps at the bottom are super tight and hard to take off. Originally, I put the caps away so I don't have to struggle with taking them off every time I want to use the grinders. That meant there was a small amount of salt/pepper that came out when I set the grinders down on the counter. That drove me nuts, and I put the caps back on. With these flaws, one might consider these grinders high maintenance. However, I like them enough to keep them and deal with it. They are different and stylish. I am happy with my purchase, but I am taking one star off to reflect the small flaws.

A few months ago, I broke our glass salt and pepper shakers. I was on Amazon looking for something that showed me how low the product was inside the container, also wanted it to be cute enough to sit on the counter. This company has sooooo many color options & this set is absolutely adorable, no need to hide it in the pantry! I have dropped them multiple times , they are very well made because neither one has broke yet. Lol!
