AWESOME: I think these books are fantastic. I would definitely buy them for hiding small valuables. Before my purchase, I read several complaints about the books not looking real - or the pages not looking real, and that once you open the flap, you can see it is a safe. My guess is that most folks are not going to leave these lying around on a desk. If you look in the pictures at them on the shelf, you absolutely cannot tell they are not real books. They are positioned on the bottom row and then there is a close up of the row with the four right next to each other. There was also criticism about the locks. I don't even use the locks. If a thief is into books, takes this off the shelf, sees that it is a safe - regardless of there being a lock, the book won't be there when you get back. COMPARISON OF SEVERAL BOOKS: I bought four of these hidden book "safes." I bought different ones because it seemed there was no sense in having four of the same book on my shelf. So what I have done is laid them out next to each other so that you can see the difference. While they are all comparatively the same in length and width, the Paris book is definitely deeper. A couple had felt, but not this one. That doesn't detract from it though. The felt in the others was cheap and did not stick well to the metal sides (but is functional and serves its purpose). One benefit I found with all the books is that even though they are similar in size, each book is a different size from the other from the outside, making them look more like real books on the shelf. RESULT OF COMPARISON: Of the four I purchased, there was no difference in quality, but there was a pretty significant difference in price. I do think that the one that is deeper could warrant a higher price - but only that one. This was the cheapest of the four books I purchased and is a great book for the price! ... show more

Ordered the Trademark Home Trademark Home Dictionary Diversion Book Safe with Key Lock, Metal and Wholeness Home Wholeness Home Large Dictionary Book Safe: Hide Your Valuables in Plain Sight - Diversion Safe with Locks - 2 Keys Included! Steel Interior - Cloth Like Exterior Looks Like a Real Book Diversion Book Safe and could not tell the difference between the lower cost Trademark and the higher cost Wholeness models. Both appear to have the same material texture covering, however, the lower cost Trademark model cover is slightly less defined compared tothe Wholeness model (when close up), but both models present well. Both have identical "plastic" pages surrounding the inside case. The appearance of both models would indicate they are identical. The difference is the inside box. The Trademark model presents with a metal case, The Wholeness model presents with a steel case. The cases are not fireproof, and do not offer a tight seal. The title on the spine of the lower cost Trademark model is not centered across the spine, is slightly crooked, and the lettering is thicker than the higher cost Wholeness model. With regards to the spine presentation, the Trademark product does not present as well as the Wholeness product, as the Trademark model appears to be less refined, but not so much as to justify the price difference between these two products. Both products will blend well with other books on a bookshelf. Inside deminsions are slightly different: Trademark measures 9 &1/8 x 5 11/16 x 2". Tradmark product has 3/16" additional space from top to bottom inside. Wholeness measures 8 & 5/16 x 5 & 11/16 x 2". Wholeness outside demision is about 3/16"" smaller than the Trademark model. Trademark product is about 35% less costly than the Wholeness product. The differences are slightly more space in the lower cost Trademark model and a better Spine presentation with the higher cost Wholeness model. I will return both products, The Wholeness product because the lower cost Trademark product will do for my purposes. The Trademark product will be returned for what I believe to be defective workmanship. I will mention the uncentered and crooked spine print and hope I will receive a better crafted one. ... show more

    • Simple safe for hiding; not so much for serious security.
This is a simple safe that cold be broken into by a motivated thief but for stashing away small valuables that you want to be able to retrieve easily and quickly this works well while sitting on my shelf with a couple of other types of dictionaries (French/English, etc.) so it looks like it is just part of my language reference section. Since anyone who has researched this type of safe might recognize it, there is some risk but it really does look like it belongs there without jumping out at you as a fake book. The main pro is that it is easy to use. I like to keep some cash on hand but I sometimes need to get at it quickly on my way out of the house so I don't want it to be too cumbersome. It's great for that and my junk silver. It would also work for hiding away from the jewelry box that screams, "take me" if you have something sentimental or valuable that you still want to wear periodically. The large size could also hold a handgun that would keep it handy for emergency self-protection at home while keeping it out of the hands of any children. I don't have any living with me so I keep the key nearby but not obvious. If I had mischievous children I would be more concerned about the location of the key. It is enough of a deterrent when locked to keep the kids from getting inside. I have a small safe as well but it is more obviously something that would have valuables inside.
