[Update] At long last we had a breezy day here, just enough to loft the kite. Very pretty indeed, see attached pics. [Original Review] I really like the kite, the broad bands of green and yellow are striking, and it's plenty big enough to impress. It assembles easily and feels very sturdy; the fabric is strong and the stitching is too. The spars are properly stiff and the little pockets are sewn well and should last. I haven't had any wind here since I got the kite but I'll come back and post pics when I do, it should be very pretty when flying. The little reel is pretty good, and it comes wound with plenty of line. If you have big hands the holes for thumb and fingers will feel cramped, but it still works. Be aware that there's no brake and therefore it can freewheel, which can cause bad line tangles if the kite suddenly stops pulling line out at a certain rate but the reel keeps spinning at that rate. Best if you keep some pressure on it. All in all it's a great little kite+reel set.

This is a delta kite -- one of the most stable kites out there. Absolutely love them. And it's got a speed winder that's a perfect size for a kid/teenagers hands. All thumbs up. This is smaller than another speed reel I've purchased independently -- if that matters to you. But frankly, I like this size better than my larger one. It also has a few cool features -- such as a locking winding handle. The only complaint I have is that the string wasn't wound on the spool tightly enough -- so it rats nested a bit before it came to me. I was able to fix it, but had to take off the leader to do that.

I have never had a kite with a true hand held kite reel. When I seen this it pecked my interest and I got it before we went in our family yearly beach camping trip. Lots to like about it and lots to not like. Opening the box the kite is very compact, easily stored, the colors of the reel and kite are amazing. I was able to assemble it in an easy amount of time. It took about 2-3 minutes of time. The string is very durable and feels rather heavy duty. Although the string will twist very easily and cause a huge headache/frustration. I found it’s constantly a fight to keep it from sliding off the reel and causing it to tangle more than I’m able to let the kit out and fly frustration free. This was the absolute worst part of the whole thing but I will admit once it’s flying it’s so nice and easy to wind up the string with little to no effort on the reel. I wish there was so kind of guard that would hold the string on the reel so it wouldn’t feel like it’s constantly trying to jump off and tangle. It was fun when not having to fight with the string and just flying the kite high in the sky! The grandson had fun with it too. Happy times!
