I was looking for a sturdy laptop stand that allows me to stand and do my work. I came across this product and ordered it. The instructions are easy to follow, and the pictures helped in the assembly. The stand is very sturdy and perhaps lasting. It is a little heavy but still portable. The package includes a bag that only caries the tripod and other parts except the flat top. This is made of high-quality materials, a real space saver, and good for either a laptop or a projector. Once, my next door-neighbor borrowed this for an outdoor movie night and that went well. The stand was firm on the ground and did not shake or looked unstable. Pros: Height could be adjusted to the convenience of the user. The elastic bands attached to the flat surface keep the steady on to table. Cons: Little heavier and less portable. I still rate the product five stars because of the quality of the product, and it serves my purpose. ... show more

I like to use my laptop in different locations, but it isn’t easy to position it so I can work from a chair or sofa. This metal tripod offers the perfect solution. Although the tripod can hold a laptop projector on its stand, it can also hold a laptop at the ideal height whether you’re sitting or standing. Assembly is easy. It took me just a few minutes to set up. I did have two leftover pieces that I didn’t know what to do with: a bracket and a metal clip. The instructions did not list these parts, but they are not essential to set up. The tripod is sturdy and stable. I like that it can be adjusted to different heights by extending the rods and tightening the screws. I use it with a laptop with the dimensions of 15 x 10 inches, and it fits on the tray perfectly. Smaller laptops will also fit as two elastic bands can be adjusted to hold it in place. A bag is included should you need to store the tripod. ... show more

I wasn't expecting anything extremely sturdy considering this is mostly for laptops/projectors, but this product came in below my already low expectations. For what its worth, the height will extend to what was advertised, and the tripod does stand on its own. This is probably suitable for sheet music more so than a projector, and definitely not built for a laptop in any way or form. The tripod spreads with not issue and you can adjust how wide you want to extend them to for your preferred grounding. I went all the way since I was hoping to make it as sturdy as possible. It comes with three extending rods, each one is customized for another rod so you don't have to worry about not putting the right one in order because any other formation of the three rods would not make sense. The lowest rod will have the largest width with a curvature inwards. This is the one I had the most issue with because the screwing mechanism for it does not tighten the rod, so you are left with the lowest rod basically just resting on the tripod. This makes it extremely wobbly and unsafe, especially if you might be lifting it (the tripod and rod will then easily disconnect). The middle and the highest rod doesn't have the same problem so if you're doing it right, you'll basically have a long rod with a laptop surface, resting weakly on a tripod. I believe if used outdoors, the wind will certainly blow this tripod over. You can probably use this for a projector as long as you're not going to be moving it often. The weight that it can handle will probably be more suitable for a projector, but not a heavier laptop. For laptops, you will not have a surface space to use your mouse, so you'll likely need to use the track pad.     • Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time
Let's ignore - for the moment - the loose nut and bolt I found in the bottom of the box that I still don't know where they belong. I picked this up because I do video production and I wanted someplace to park either a laptop or a video switcher that would just be easy to setup, secure and easy to store when not needed. This is none of those. - Parts of the tripod stand come in a cheap bag but since all of the parts don't fit there is a need to have some sort of bag to store the base, the risers and the platform in when not in use. Not helpful. - The part of the stand tripod that slips into the leg section doesn't fit securely. Picking the unit up by the risers usually results in leaving the legs where they sit. - The straps on the platform for holding the laptop or projector work okay for a projector but the laptop - not so much unless it's closed. Oops. - Placing a projector or laptop on the stand results in an unstable and top heavy unit that really should be weighted down with sandbags or otherwise secured to keep it from toppling over. There is no way I'd trust this in an environment with even the slightest chance that it might be nudged inadvertently. So it's going into a bag or a case or a box or otherwise mothballed. On the other hand maybe that random nut and bolt are supposed to hold it all together. Nah. ... show more
