Top Amazon Reviews

  • Very Nice but an Adjustable Headrest Would be Perfect
Color: Brown
I just replaced a recliner we bought from Big Lots with this chair. The covering was all peeling off so it was time to go. Now this Lane chair is rated for 500 pounds. I weigh about 250 at 6ft and it is perfect. I almost did not buy this chair. We gave away two Lanes a couple of months ago when we moved. I picked them up from Amazon at a great price and hated them a few months later. But since we were stuck I just dealt with it for too many years. So I originally said never again with Lane. But then I did some research. As it turns out........all Lane oversized recliners are not created equal. I noticed that the two I bought previously were 48 inches deep. This one is 40 inches deep. So I took a chance, ordered this one, and that was the whole problem. The original chair was just too deep for me, at 6ft., to get comfortable in. And I would bet that some of the negative reviews are probably related to that depth issue. The chair is not soft. It is firm. Not too many companies, especially Ashley which will not even list a maximum weight, make a chair that holds 450 to 500 pounds. You have to expect a firmer chair to hold that much weight. When you flip it over and look at the springs............well, I would say they are at least 10 times better than the cheap spring job on the Big Lots chair.......Sealy, maybe.......that we just tossed. I mean, this thing has SPRINGS, big boys, not just wires running across the bottom. I expect the chair to last since the two I had in my previous home were going on 6 years or so and showed no sign of giving up. So my discomfort was all because I chose the wrong size chair which, as you probably know, is one of the curses of online shopping. The 8 inch difference in depth, on the seat, is huge. Yet my feet do not hang over any more than on the deeper chair. The width and height were about the same. I am kind of sorry I did not get the rocker/recliner which seems to be the same price. Maybe I missed it, or maybe Amazon just received new stock. But I would have preferred a rocker. Still in all, I can live with this one. As for delivery............once again, in my area anyway, Amazon used NSD delivery. Which totally.......I'll let you fill in the rest. I learned a few things after having them deliver a Generator from Amazon, so listen closely to your Uncle Joe assuming you also see NSD as the delivery vendor. 1. Don't bother calling NSD because they never pick up or return the message you leave. Never. Call an Amazon rep with any problems and let them liaison. 2. Same with e-mail contact. No replys. 3. Forget the delivery date Amazon lists. Ain't happening. 4. Save yourself the grief and wasted days sitting at home that I went through with the Generator delivery. You have to check the NSD website every day with your order number. When it says your order is on the truck for delivery.....that is your delivery date, meaning you will not know until the same day. And don't expect a courtesy call. They called about 10 minutes ahead on the generator, and no call at all on the chair. Having said all that.........many local furniture stores where I live now have very limited stock. The closest Ashley, Rooms to Go, larger places like that are around 60 miles away. Amazon seems to have plenty of stock from many different vendors. And the pricing, as always, is so much better. I do my part to shop local as much as possible. But if ya ain't got what I need than Amazon gets the business. Quick addendum which I neglected to mention and should have based on some of the negative reviews. As I said earlier........PAY ATTENTION to the model you are purchasing. You will see some of the reviewers complain about their feet being off the ground. Well, I am sitting on this chair right now and my feet are firmly on the ground. On my previous, 48 inch deep, Lane recliner my feet were inches off the ground as well. That is due to the depth difference of the two models. Same with firmness. You should just assume that a chair which holds double the weight of most recliners will be firmer. ... show more

  • XPO delivery Rocked! The Chair, thankfully, does Not!
Color: Walnut
Lane ComfortKing Magnus 4501-190 is a quality chair. Sturdy and well padded (firm). I am an amputee (left BKA) and large (6' 350lbs). Rated at 500 lbs limit, this seems a good match. I spend a lot of seated and struggle with bedsores. This chair makes that much more comfortable than my last 3 standard size model recliners (all used lazy boys). Overall I am satisfied. 3 complaints though. 1. It is Waaaay to hard to put the foot rest up. I mean it makes my shoulder sore to do it. *Edit 1\4\23 After over 2 weeks this getting easier. Still very stiff but manageable 2 It is almost as hard to let down as raise and once to pass the mid-point it SLAMS up. Thought it broke my heel the first time. *Edit 1\4\23 After over 2 weeks this getting easier too. Still takes some effort but not as much. Recommend a lever extender to make this easier for older or disabled persons. 3. The seat cushion is nice, thick, firm. Perfect, except that the frame it sits on (also very strong) is mounted at an angle. It makes me lean to the right. The seat is nearly an entire inch lower on the right as apposed to the left, but everything else on the chair is perfectly straight. Annoying for a new thousand dollar chair. *Edit 1\4\23 After over 2 weeks this is still an issue, Probably repairable. Will check warranty and update. Additional note: When sitting in the chair with footrest down, posture and seat-back upright, my feet are 2 inches from the floor. With the Footrest up, and everything else the same, my heel my does not reach end of footrest like it should (heel should hang off end of footrest by an inch or so.) *This is okay*, I expected that might be the case as this is a Big & Tall recliner that sits quite high and also deep. It's not a big deal. I am resolving by adding a footrest pillow. Three Positives now. A. I use a prosthetic leg with a vacuum seal. Most chairs are so short that when I am putting my leg on, It is hard to bring the heal back far enough to push my residual limb straight down into the bucket to get a good seal. Same problem when standing from a shorter chair. I can't get the leg straight under me (for support). The ComfortKing Magnus\Stallion fixes all that. Plenty of room to put leg on and get it under me to stand. B. I sleep in my recliner since the amputation. All of the previous chairs were so uncomfortable that I could sleep only an hour or two at a time in them. The ComfortKing gives me 6-8 hours straight sleep so far. C. 350 pounds and one leg. A fall is very hard to get up from. I need a sturdy chair that will take my weight and doesn't feel like it could flip over backwards if I recline all the way back, or slide out from under me as I stand up while pushing down hard on the recliner arms. Also it can't sag. It needs to be very firm, very sturdy, and dependably strong. This recliner is. I lean the seat-back all the way back to near flat. I have tested to see if it might tip over with me in it, but it doesn't budge. The steel and wood framing is very strong and reliable. The engineering is very well thought out. Overall this is a great chair. For big and tall people its a good choice, but you will need some muscles to raise and lower foot rest. I should mention *RXO delivery*. Awesome delivery crew. They took the chair out of the box so they could get it across our threshold as the listing promised. Very courteous and excellent communication. Great service. They get 5 stars and Lane ComfortKing gets 4 stars Because the seat installed with left to right downhill angle. *Edit 1\4\23 After 2 weeks of use - and corrected name of delivery service. ... show more

  • Huge recliner
Color: Gladiator Charcoal
Ordered two recliners. One for me 6' 3" and one for my wife 5' 8". Did not realize these were huge recliners. My feet barely hit the floor when closed. Recliner when closed sits me up pretty straight. Would like to be back just a little bit more when fully closed. These do not rock. Did not realize that when bought. Would not have bought if I had known that. My wife's feet did not touch the floor when fully closed. Her feet 6" from the floor. Good quality but built for big and I mean big person. I weigh 220 and this recliner could easily hold someone in the 350 plus pound range. You can almost put 1 1/2 of me in the recliner there is so much room. Very firm. Does not recline all the way back. If I was a really big person this would be the recliner for me. Good quality but way too big and it sits tall about 6 to 8" higher than a normal recliner. Sent 2nd recliner back. Way too big for my wife. ... show more
