Ok, half-a-star doesn't exist (except in my mind)-but here's a good concept gone bad. I just moved from California to scenic Rhode Island, and the snow is an issue-solution? A 10' X 20' shelter to install in the driveway and protect my vehicle-good news, nice design, bad news: poor execution. The extruded aluminium pop-together struts are 1" but for the m most part unlabelled (a few of the elements did have an almost unreadable scrawl in magic marker on the side), and the female threads for the braces were almost randomly placed. Each problem has a solution: the struts can be rotated to allow the badly-placed females to be re-aligned, but then the pop-up anchors are hidden, meaning there's no firm anchor to the juncture points. Solution was a series of electrical conduit braces (1" conduit junctures) which fit perfectly over the juncture points and could be screwed down. So, overall, vexing, but not a total failure...by the way, almost impossible to assemble single-handed. and one day later...not tearing my hair out, but close. It's as if this system was designed by a small, determined child, and never actually vetted by an engineer. The material for the cover is at least too thin by half, almost impossible too stretch over the support frame (I'm relying on bungees now), and several of the grommets for retaining the integrity of the juncture between canopy and frame are mysteriously...not open! I'm gritting my teeth and working thru the issues, but hey, I usually get paid for troubleshooting somebodies problems! ... show more

Easy to assemble, however no instructions outside of a numbered diagram. Not canvas or cloth for material just a cheap thin tarp. Poles arrived bent and damaged, tarp had pinholes and see through seams. It'll give a covered space to work but don't expect it to last long. Doesn't come with stakes for the footings and has minimal bracing and could use more, it's rather flimsy. ... show more

Not my first rodeo constructing these temporary car canopies. Some of the poles were misdrilled for braces and had to be massaged a lot to fit. The canopy cover itself was missing a tensioning clip to attach at the bottom of the pole no big deal "zip ties". On the pluses I was able to reuse my salvaged side panels from another manufacturer and was a exact fit with no issues. My suggsstion if you're expecting snow use some cargo straps to hold its shape under load and keep the poles from buckling, but ideally sweep the snow off if gets over two inches, or it's really wet snow. The top cover tensions up really nicely and does not sag. I don't expect this canopy to last more then a couple of winters here in PNW. ... show more

What ever is in the picture provided and description is not what you are getting. The poles is only 1 inch diameter only, it is not stable when you setup. The tarf is so low quality, you are not getting what its on the picture n description. No instruction how to put tarf. I would have return that item if I have not opened the box. Do not know how to return item that big. Do not buy it. ... show more

First arrived. Box torn all to hell. It's large and heavy so that's understandable. The poles are absolutely the cheapest metals and after taking the top off before a small 35 mph wind comes through in a storm front. The poles couldn't even handle that and buckled. This pic is looking out a window at the time it happened. Messed up when even the metal can't even hold up. Poor product. A waste of $180 I will never get back. Thanks China.     • Protection for my boat while we've been working on the garage.

This worked out great for my situation. I needed something to put over my boat to get it out of the elements for some time while we worked on the garage and driveway. It's a summer project that's been taking a good bit of time to complete, and I needed to park my boat outside while it was going on. Even though there is a cover for our boat, I wasn't going to be able to put it in my driveway, so it was going to be parked around the back side of my house near the back of the property. In an area where it's not uncommon to have stuff fall from the trees like small branches, leaves, and all kinds of other debris every time we get winds and rain. Also, we'd already had two very heavy and unexpected hail storms come through in the previous month that did a good bit of damage to people's vehicles. My boat is much newer than any of my vehicles, so while I don't stress some hail dents on my old truck, I was not looking forward to a storm coming through and tearing apart the cover on the boat, then wreaking havoc on the interior. I was hoping to find something to help out some with this. So that's where this carport canopy comes into play. I wanted something as an extra barrier between my boat and the elements and this has been perfect. It's easy to set up, and can be as temporary as it needs to be.
