Features

  • Wool
  • UAB LNA-LANACARE
  • LANACare's soothingly soft, reusable nursing pads, in organic merino wool, were specially designed by a Danish nurse. The pads are made of interwoven wool fibers, making them light-weight and absorptive. Many find them more comfortable than disposables or cotton - wool absorbs the milk, keeping skin dry, and breathes, to maintain comfortable temperature in warmth or cold. These are new mom essentials!
  • Most women need only 2-3 pairs for entire nursing period. Wool's self-cleansing properties prolong need for washing. Wool's natural oil, lanolin is activated as the wool absorbs moisture. Wash, on average every couple weeks with lanolin-replenishing woolwash to maintain wool's unique properties.
  • Scandinavian midwives have traditionally advised breastfeeding mothers to keep their breasts warm to help prevent plugged ducts. Larger sizes provide gentle, soothing warmth and are intended to fill the entire bra cup. Wool's breathability and temperature-regulating properties maintain a comfortable temperature against skin.
  • Small, 6 inch diameter. Most popular & universally recommended size. Regular thickness. Cup size B-DD or larger. Sold as set of 2 pads-1 pair. (Take note - these are larger than most women expect! Cup size is a guideline - please choose size based on measurements.)
  • Women find these soothing with any soreness associated with breastfeeding, particularly vasospasms. Designed by Danish nurse. Imported by lactation consultant.

Description

Soothingly soft washable pads made with organic merino wool. Designed by a Danish nurse, these organic breast pads were made to be a newborn necessity. Made of KbT-certified organic merino wool, interwoven in a special, patented method. This style "Softline" comes in 2 variations, Regular (1/3 inch thick) and Extra Thickness (5/8 inch). Each is very soft and can easily compressed between thumb and finger Untreated wool can absorb up to 40% of its weight in moisture, without feeling wet. When damp, the pads feel warm, rather than cold and clammy, as with cotton or disposable breast pads. Particularly soothing with vasospasms. Scandinavian midwives have traditionally advised breastfeeding mothers to keep their breasts warm to prevent plugged ducts. Larger sizes provide gentle, soothing warmth for this purpose. Intended to fill the entire bra cup, they are actually less noticeable through clothing. Wool breathes, to maintain comfortable temperature in warmth or cold (including air-conditioned environments). Wool's natural oil, lanolin, provides self-cleansing properties for easy care. Wash occasionally, on average every couple weeks, with lanolin-replenishing soap, to optimize wool's unique properties. The wool pads can be used together with lanolin and other ointments, commonly used in breastfeeding. Even women who feel they are allergic to wool can often wear these pads - many react to the chemicals used to extract lanolin from the wool; no such chemicals are used on this wool. Sold as set of 2 pads (one pair). Available in a variety of sizes and styles to suit each woman's needs.

  • Great for hiking!
Size: 6 inch, Regular Thickness
I am an avid hiker and a big fan of anything wool. Problem is, all of my bras, including the wool one and the supposedly high performing, moisture wicking, whatever bras have polyester-kind paddings, rendering all the "moisture wicking" features useless. I just finished an overnight hike where the temperature during the day rose to over 100 degrees. These guys did great, no more sweat running down between my girls. They dried quickly and no smell at all. They feel super warm, so I had my qualms, but they were just perfect. Since they are made for breastfeeding, they are naturally larger. I bought the 6 inches, and while they fit perfectly into my Under Armour bra they are a bit large for my Icebreaker one so potentially the 5 inches would have been sufficient for my purpose. ... show more

  • The best
Size: 6 inch, Regular Thickness
Completely underrated product. Every nursing mother should own a pair! (Even in warm weather, these are so comfortable)

  • Game changer
Size: 6 inch, Regular Thickness
After suffering from all of the breastfeeding ailments in the first 6 weeks (mastitis, blebs, recurrent clogs, vasospasms, blisters, poor latch…), these have helped me turn a corner. Vasospasms were causing significant pain and were my main lingering issue. My midwife suggested I get wool pads before we try medication. I didn’t think they’d do much, but have been so impressed with the relief they provide. The pads are huge, but I think they need to be so that they cover a large portion of the breast to provide warmth. I almost wish I sized up so that they cover the whole thing. At night, I still need to put a fleece blanket over my chest for extra warmth. At this point, I’ve only been using them for insulation since I don’t leak much, so I can’t say much about how they were for leaking. If you get vasospasms, I wouldn’t hesitate to try these. ... show more

  • Expensive but worth it!
Size: 5 Inch, Regular Thickness
So happy I bought these. My LC recommended these because I was dealing with vasopasms months into breastfeeding. Keeping my nipples warm between feeds helped everything heal faster and feel better!

  • Great absorbency
Size: 5 Inch, Regular Thickness
These breast pads are definitely the most absorbent I have ever come across. They are also so soft and extremely comfortable to wear in your bra. One issue I came across was having some fibers left on my nipples when I went to feed. Also I accidentally put my first pair in the dryer and ruined them (but that was my fault for not checking my dirty laundry well enough). ... show more

  • Very warm, but not absorbent for heavy flow
Size: 6 inch, Regular Thickness
I bought them because I experienced nipple pain from bad blood circulation and they really helped! They are soo warm which is really nice in the winter. They are absolutely not leak proof especially if you're a heavy producer like I am, but I just layer another cotton pad that holds the milk and is waterproof on the other side to avoid leaks. also it's crazy but they actually don't smell bad even after the milk dries!! Once they get hard from all the dried (but somehow not stinky) milk I rince and dry them on top of the dryer when it's running. ... show more

  • Great reusable pads
Size: 6 inch, Regular Thickness
These were great to have when my supply was still regulating itself. They are soft and warm and I only had to wash them with wool wash once every couple of weeks. In my experience, what I read about wool pads proved true. I wore wool pads from the moment my milk came in and did not have dry or cracked nipples and only had one incident of a plugged milk duct. Could be coincidence, or could be that wool is really that helpful when breastfeeding! I tried both the regular and extra thick pads and the regular were best for me (I would wake up sweating when wearing the thicker ones). I’m a size 36b and the 6in diameter worked well for me. I also liked having 2 pairs so that while one pair was being washed/air dried, I had another to wear. The air dry can take a while since they aren’t recommended to dry in direct sunlight. All in all I’m happy I went with this reusable natural fiber option! ... show more
