I like the weight (not a plastic piece of junk), drag is smoth, color is subtle and price is right. Better look and feel than Orvis or Bass Pro similar costing reels. I looked at them all.

I bought this Liquid 5+ to pair with a moderately-priced new 6wt rod that I don't expect to use very often. Used it this week and it worked very well. Drag is smooth, it holds 90 ft of 6wt line plus 100ft or so of backing. The best thing to know, though, is that Lamson provides sterling customer service. When I 1st loaded line on to the reel, the drag seemed to be engaged on the retrieve as well as the run out. I called the customer service number and it was answered by a real person on the 2nd ring. I described the problem, he said "it sounds like something's wrong with it" and told me to send it to him. No annoying questions about how I might have messed it up and he waived the repair fee without my asking for it. I sent it in and went fishing. When I got back a few days later, the reel was in my mailbox, all fixed and ready to go. It just doesn't get any better than that. I will look at Lamson first before buying another reel (of which I have too many already).

This is a great reel. Put it on the bamboo rod and works in frigid cold weather and didn’t have any issues. Love the looks and the action. I got the matte style so as to limit sun reflection that might scare fish off.. has a high quality feel. Lightweight also. Drag is good. What a good cost for this.

I built my first fly rod In February of 2021 and wanted a good reel without spending a fortune. I also wanted a made in USA reel. At 86$ it certainly was affordable and the drag and the machining is done in the USA. That works for me. The reel is gorgeous in person and has a very easy start up drag. Just silky smooth. The clicker is pretty loud too which I personally like. The rod I built is an angler workshop’s made in USA 2 piece 9’ 4wt and this reel works perfectly with it. I can’t get over the price increase since then (on EVERYTHING!) glad I grabbed it then.

I own several of these reels. I believe they are the best value of all fly reels. The drag system is the same as on Lamson reels costing hundreds of dollars more. The reels are die cast and not machined from aluminum bar stock. This is not an important difference for anglers using the 5 weight line for which this reel was designed. The drag is smooth and will not jam under normal operating conditions. Save by buying this reel and spend the savings on a better rod or a better fly line

Got the 5 weight in the Smoke (i.e.-gray) color. Looks great, is lightweight, and performs great so far. Very smooth drag that worked perfectly landing a 20" rainbow on 6X that ran several times on my first time out with this reel. Retrieve is efficient and it sounds great, too. For the price, this is a great reel.
